Moycarkey–Borris GAA
Moycarkey–Borris GAA is a Tipperary GAA club which is located in County Tipperary, Ireland. Both hurling and Gaelic football are played in the "Mid-Tipperary" divisional competitions. The club is centred on the village of Littleton, County Tipperary, Littleton but also takes in areas such as Two-Mile-Borris, Horse and Jockey, and Moycarkey. Formation On Sunday, 25 October 1884, a meeting of the Moycarkey branch of the Irish National League was held in their committee rooms in Moycarkey; Rev. D. M. English was in the chair. Very Rev. John Bourke, who was the branch treasurer and a full committee, was present. The Tipperary County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) () or Tipperary GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Tipperary and the Tipperary county teams. County Tipperary holds an honoured place in the history of the GAA as the organisation was founded in Hayes' Hotel, Thurles, on 1 November 1884. Tom Allen (hurler)
Thomas Allen (4 September 1874 – 20 June 1952) was an Irish hurler. His championship career with the Tipperary senior team spanned several seasons from 1900 until 1907. Born in Littleton, County Tipperary, Allen was the third of five children born to William and Catherine Allen (née Purcell). He was educated locally before later working as a farmer. Allen first played competitive hurling with the Two-Mile-Borris club. In a successful era for the club, he won county senior championship medals in 1900, 1903 and 1905. Success at club level saw Allen added to the Tipperary senior team and he made his debut during the 1900 championship. He won an All-Ireland medal in his debut season before claiming a second winners' medal in 1906. Allen also won two Munster medals before retiring from inter-county hurling following the conclusion of the 1907 championship. Danny Ryan
Daniel Ryan (1 May 1870 – 31 December 1966) was an Irish hurler who played as a forward for the Tipperary senior team. Ryan lined out for the team for just one season during the inaugural 1887 championship. Tommy Purcell
Tommy Purcell (1921–1949) was an Irish sportsperson. He played hurling with his local club Moycarkey–Borris and was a member of the Tipperary senior inter-county team in the 1940s. John O'Grady (hurler)
John O'Grady (14 January 1931 - 6 December 2024) was an Irish former hurler. At club level he played with Moycarkey–Borris, University College Cork and Blackrock and was also a member of the Tipperary senior hurling team. Career O'Grady first played hurling at club level with Moycarkey–Borris and joined the club's senior team as a 16-year-old. He also lined out with Thurles CBS in the Harty Cup and earned selection on the Munster Colleges team. As a university student in Cork, O'Grady played in the Fitzgibbon Cup with University College Cork and also earned inclusion on the Combined Universities team in 1952 and 1953. After leaving university he played with the Blackrock club in Cork, lining out in the 1954 final defeat by Glen Rovers, before ending his career with Moycarkey–Borris in 1962. Martin Mockler (born 11 November 1893) was an Irish hurler who played as a full-back for the Tipperary senior team. Bob Mockler
Robert Mockler (18 April 1886 – 9 May 1966) was an Irish hurler who played as a midfielder for the Tipperary and Dublin senior teams from 1909 until 1924. Mockler made his first appearance for the Tipperary team during the 1908 championship and was a regular member of the starting seventeen for the next few seasons. He subsequently enjoyed a decade long career with Dublin before retiring from the game after the 1924 championship. During that time he won three All-Ireland medals, five Leinster medals and one Munster medal. Mockler captained Dublin to the All-Ireland title in 1920. Mick Lonergan
Mick Lonergan (born 1940) is an Irish retired hurler who played as a full-back for the Tipperary senior team. Lonergan joined the team during the 1962 championship and was a semi-regular member of the team until he retired from inter-county hurling after the 1967 championship. He made his debut coming on as a substitute in the 1964 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship and also came on in the 1967 final defeat. John Joe Hayes
John Joseph Hayes (27 June 1895 – 8 November 1979) was an Irish hurler. At club level he played with Moycarkey–Borris and was also a member of the Tipperary senior hurling team. He usually lined out as a corner-back. Career Hayes first came to prominence as a hurler with the Moycarkey–Borris club. In a career that spanned three decades, he won four County Championship titles, including one as team captain in 1926. Hayes first appeared on the inter-county scene as a member of the Tipperary senior hurling team in 1917. It was the first year of a decade-long association with the team, culminating with the winning of the All-Ireland Championship in 1925. Hayes's other honours include three Munster Championship medals, while he was also included on the Ireland team for the 1924 Tailteann Games.
