"Movin'" is a song written by Randy Muller and Wade Williamston, and performed by R&B/disco band Brass Construction. Background The song was culled together from a 16-minute jam session by the band. Chart performance Released from their self-titled 1976 album, the single spent a week at number 1 on the R&B singles chart in the spring of that year. It was also successful on the pop charts, peaking at number 14 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. On the disco dance charts, "Movin'" went to number 1 for four weeks and spent a total of twelve weeks on the chart. Outside the US, "Movin'" went to number 23 in the UK in 1976 and peaked at number 24 as "Movin' 1988" when remixed by PWL's Phil Harding. Brass Construction
Brass Construction was an American funk group formed in Brooklyn, New York, United States, in 1968. They were originally known as Dynamic Soul, and went on to record a string of hit singles and albums through 1985. Career Signed in 1975 by Sid Maurer, and former United Artists Records promotion man Fred Frank, they scored two US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 entries in 1976, the most successful being " Movin'," which hit #14. They had much more success on the US Hot Dance Club Play chart, with nine chart entries, including "Movin, which reached #1. Singer, pianist, flautist and arranger Randy Muller went on to score a number of R&B hits with Skyy and B. T. Express. Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez
Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez (born June 7, 1970), also sometimes known as K-Dope, is an American record producer and disc jockey. He is one half of the classic house music Masters at Work musical production team with Little Louie Vega; and also released the hit " The Bomb! (These Sounds Fall into My Mind)" as The Bucketheads. Biography Gonzalez started his DJ career in 1985 organizing neighborhood block parties in his home of Brooklyn, New York, with his then musical partner, Mike Delgado. Under the Masters at Work moniker, the parties became quite successful and attracted Todd Terry who later borrowed the group's name for two record releases. Terry returned the favor at a later date when he loaned Gonzalez a drum machine, which began his interest in producing beats.
