''Good Times'' is an American television sitcom that aired for six seasons on CBS, from February 8, 1974, to August 1, 1979. Created by Eric Monte and Mike Evans (actor), Mike Evans and developed by executive producer Norman Lear, it was television's first African American two-parent family sitcom. It is a Spin-off (media), spin-off of ''Maude (TV series), Maude'', itself a spin-off of ''All in the Family''. Sondra "Blinky" Williams (born May 21, 1944) is an American R&B and Soul music, soul singer-songwriter, probably best known for singing the female lead on the theme for the 1970s TV series, ''Good Times''. Early life Williams was born in Oakland, California, United States, but later grew up in Los Angeles. The daughter of a pastor, she was active in church choirs since the age of six. Her two siblings are Diana Williams Witherspoon and Pastor Austin F. Williams.
