Iași County () is a county (județ) of Romania, in Western Moldavia, with the administrative seat at Iași. It is the most populous county in Romania, after the Municipality of Bucharest (which has the same administrative level as that of a county). Geography This county has a total area of . Western Moldavia (, ''Moldova de Apus'', or , also known as Moldavia, is the core historic and geographical part of the former Principality of Moldavia situated in eastern and north-eastern Romania. Constantin Corduneanu
Constantin Corduneanu (July 26, 1928 – December 26, 2018) was a Romanian-American mathematician and professor of mathematics at the University of Texas at Arlington. In 2015, he was elected a titular member of the Romanian Academy; he was a corresponding member of the Academy since 1974. Biography Corduneanu was born in Potângeni, Iași County, the son of Aglaea and Costache Corduneanu. From 1940 to 1947, he attended military high school in Iași and Predeal.
