''The Mickey Mouse Club'' is an American variety show, variety television show that aired intermittently from 1955 to 1996 and briefly returned to social media in 2017. Created by Walt Disney and produced by The Walt Disney Company, Walt Disney Productions, the program was first televised for four seasons, from 1955 to 1959, by American Broadcasting Company, ABC. This original run featured a regular, but ever-changing cast of mostly teen performers. ABC broadcast reruns weekday afternoons during the 1958–1959 season, airing right after ''American Bandstand''. Lonnie Burr
Lonnie Burr (born May 31, 1943) is an American actor, entertainer and writer best known as one of nine of the original thirty-nine Mouseketeers who remained under a seven-year contract for the complete filming (1955–1959) of Walt Disney’s children’s television show the ''Mickey Mouse Club''. The ''Mickey Mouse Club'' was the first national TV show to star children who appeared primarily as themselves as well as acting as characters in scenes and musical numbers. The original show aired in syndication in the 1960s, reran again in 1975, then on the Disney Channel in the 1980s through the early 2000s. After appearing on the show, Burr's entertainment career included work as a character actor, dancer, singer, and choreographer. His career as a writer included being a book author, playwright, lyricist, journalist, critic and poet. Throughout adulthood, he continued to honor his Disney experience. Sharon Baird, born August 16, 1943 in Seattle, Washington, is an American actress, voice actress, singer, dancer and puppeteer who is best known for having been a Mouseketeer. Early life She has one younger brother, Jimmy, also a former child actor. She began dance lessons at age three and won a "Little Miss Washington" contest at five. Jimmie Dodd
James Wesley Dodd (March 28, 1910 – November 10, 1964) was an American actor, singer, and songwriter best known as the master of ceremonies for the popular 1950s Walt Disney television series ''The Mickey Mouse Club,'' as well as the writer of its well-known theme song, "The Mickey Mouse Club March". A different version of this march, much slower in tempo and with different lyrics, became the ''alma mater'' that closed each episode. The Party (band)
The Party is an American pop band. The group was initially composed of Albert Fields, Tiffini Hale, Chase Hampton, Deedee Magno Hall, and Damon Pampolina, all of whom were cast members of ''The All New Mickey Mouse Club'' from 1989 to 1991. In 2013, the group reunited, without the involvement of Tiffini Hale. History In 1990, the Disney Channel formed a pop band composed of then-current cast members of ''The Mickey Mouse Club''. As part of the promotion for the band, a name-the-band contest was held. The result was "The Party," which is a backronym for "Positive Attitude Reflects Today's Youth." Robert Wilkie Burgess (born May 19, 1941) is an American dancer and singer. He was one of the original Mouseketeers. Later, he was a regular on ''The Lawrence Welk Show''. Early life Growing up in Southern California, Burgess started performing at age five, which included dancing, singing and playing the accordion. At the age of 13, in 1955, he was selected as one of the original Mouseketeers by Walt Disney to appear on his new ABC television series, ''The Mickey Mouse Club'', giving young Burgess his first taste of celebrity. Roy Williams (July 30, 1907 – November 7, 1976) was an American artist and entertainer for the Walt Disney Company, The Walt Disney Studios, best known as "Big Roy," the adult mouseketeer for four seasons on the ''Mickey Mouse Club'' television series and for his invention of the Mickey Mouse hats. Early life and career Williams was born in Colville, Washington and raised in Los Angeles, where he attended John C. Fremont High School, Fremont High School. After graduating, he was hired as an artist by Walt Disney in 1930. He worked on animated shorts while attending Chouinard Art Institute at night. He later also developed story ideas for Disney. ''The Gallopin' Gaucho'' is a 1928 American animated short film and the second short film featuring Mickey Mouse to be produced, following '' Plane Crazy'' and preceding ''Steamboat Willie''. The Disney studios completed the silent version in August 1928, but did not release it in order to work on ''Steamboat Willie''. ''The Gallopin' Gaucho'' was released, with sound, after ''Steamboat Willie'' on December 30 of the same year. Both Mickey and Minnie Mouse had already made their initial debuts with the test screening of ''Plane Crazy'' on May 15, 1928, but that film had failed to catch the attention of distributors when first produced as a silent film. Minerva "Minnie" Mouse is an American cartoon character created by the Walt Disney Company.
