Mount Atkinson is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, northwest of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Melton local government area. History Mount Atkinson is situated in the Kulin nation traditional Aboriginal country. The Wathaurong and Woiwurrung people are local custodians within the Kulin nation. The suburb was gazetted and approved by the Victorian Government in 2017. Before its inception, the area was a part of Rockbank, Truganina and Mount Cottrell. Electoral District Of Kororoit
The electoral district of Kororoit is an electorate of the Victorian Legislative Assembly covering Albanvale, Caroline Springs as well as some parts of Deer Park and St Albans in the western suburbs of Melbourne. The seat was created prior to the 2002 election and with the same redistribution turning Labor Party powerbroker and cabinet minister Andre Haermeyer's seat of Yan Yean into a marginal Liberal seat, Haermeyer decided to contest Kororoit. It is the electrified section of the Bendigo railway within metropolitan Melbourne. The Metro Tunnel (previously known during planning as the Melbourne Metro Rail Project) is a metropolitan rail infrastructure project currently under construction in Melbourne, Australia. It includes the construction of twin 9-kilometre rail tunnels between South Kensington (north west of the Melbourne central business district) and South Yarra (in the south east) with five new underground stations. The Melton railway line is the greater-metropolitan section of the Ballarat line in Victoria, Australia. It is incorporated into Melbourne's suburban railway network.
