Alexander Eric Moulton (9 April 1920 – 9 December 2012) was an English engineer and inventor, specialising in Suspension (vehicle), suspension design. Early life and education Moulton's father, John Coney Moulton, was a naturalist working in the Far East. Alex Moulton was the great-grandson of the rubber pioneer Stephen Moulton, the founder of the family business called George Spencer, Moulton & Co. Ltd, based at Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire. Moulton was educated at Marlborough College and the University of Cambridge where he was an undergraduate at King's College, Cambridge, King's College. Career During World War II he worked on engine design at the Bristol Aeroplane Company. After the war he joined the family company, which made rubber components such as suspension parts for railway carriages; he turned it towards rubber suspension systems for road vehicles. Terry Moulton (born July 19, 1946) is a former Republican member of the Wisconsin Senate, who represented the 23rd district from 2011 to 2019. He was previously a member of the Wisconsin Assembly, representing the 68th district from 2005 to 2009. Stephen Moulton (7 July 1794 – 26 April 1880) was an Englishman who, as an agent of the American rubber pioneer Charles Goodyear, first brought samples of vulcanized rubber to the United Kingdom. Biography Moulton, who was born in Whorlton, County Durham, subsequently shared the samples with Thomas Hancock, who then beat Goodyear to a UK patent for the vulcanization process by a matter of a few weeks in 1843. After various disputes with Hancock and Goodyear over patents and manufacturing rights, Moulton established his own factory in 1848 at Kingston Mill near Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire, England. Ronald Godfrey Moulton (1924–2010) was an English author and editor, notable for his work in the field of scale models and aeromodelling. Biography Moulton was born in Loughton Essex in 1924. Watching the Alan Cobham Flying Circus, at the age of 10, inspired his interest in aircraft, and especially in modelling. In 1940, he trained at RAF Halton, initially working on aircraft, before being posted to Pietersberg, South Africa, in order to service Airspeed Oxford monoplanes. Powers Gormer Moulton (August 9, 1829December 21, 1904) was an American farmer, Republican politician, and Wisconsin pioneer. He was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing La Crosse County during the 1870 and 1871 terms. Biography Powers Moulton was born August 9, 1829, in Trenton, New York. He received a common school education in New York before moving west with his parents in 1846. They settled in Lake County, Illinois, where they were some of the earliest settlers at Waukegan. Through his father, he became involved in the Democratic Party in Illinois, but he and his father would later split with the party over slavery. They both became staunch Republicans after that party was established in the 1850s. Brigadier General Jonathan Moulton (; July 21, 1726 – September 18, 1787) played an important role in the early history of New Hampshire and many tales of his adventures would become legendary.
