Grand Prix motorcycle racing is the highest class of motorcycle road racing events held on Road racing, road circuits sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM). Independent motorcycle racing events have been held since the start of the twentieth century and large national events were often given the title Grand Prix. 2010 Grand Prix Motorcycle Racing Season
The 2010 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season was the 62nd Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme, F.I.M. Road racing, Road Racing World Championship season. The season consisted out of 18 races for the MotoGP class and 17 for the 125cc and Moto2 classes, beginning with the Qatar motorcycle Grand Prix on 11 April 2010 and ending with the Valencian Community motorcycle Grand Prix on 7 November. It was the first season for the new Moto2 class. Preseason Moto2 introduction The Moto2 class replaced the 250cc class for 2010. The original intention was for Moto2 bikes to run alongside the existing 250cc machinery, however the entry list consisted of Moto2 machines only. Forward Racing
Forward Racing is a motorcycle racing team competing in the Moto2 World Championship, MotoE World Championship and WorldWCR. History The team started competing in the MotoGP class as the Hayate Racing Team, a scaled down version of the Kawasaki factory team that withdrew from MotoGP for the championship due to the Great Recession. The team took its name from the Japanese word ''Hayate'' meaning hurricane. The team ran one Kawasaki ZX-RR motorcycle that was ridden by Marco Melandri. Kawasaki stopped developing new parts for the motorbike in March 2009, meaning Kawasaki's involvement was limited to servicing and maintaining the motorcycle for the rest of the 2009 season. Héctor Garzó
Héctor Garzó Vicent (born 9 June 1998) is a Spanish motorcycle racer, competing in the MotoE World Cup for Tech3 team. Career Moto3 Junior World Championship Garzó competed in the 2016 FIM CEV Moto3 Junior World Championship without scoring a point. Moto2 European Championship Garzó moved to the Moto2 European Championship the following season, and was much more successful, scoring a 2nd place, and three 3rd place finishes in the year, ending the season with 126 points, and fourth in the overall standings. He would stay for the 2018 season as well, scoring two 3rd places in Aragón, before winning his first race of the category in Albacete. Ai Ogura
is a Japanese Grand Prix motorcycle racer who competes in MotoGP for Trackhouse MotoGP Team. He was recently crowned 2024 Moto2 World Champion with MT Helmets – MSi, being the first Japanese rider to win a world championship in fifteen years since Hiroshi Aoyama in 2009. He previously competed in Moto2 and Moto3 for Idemitsu Honda Team Asia, finishing as championship runner-up in 2022. Ogura is the first Asia Talent Cup graduate to make it to MotoGP, alongside Somkiat Chantra. Career Early career Ogura was born in Kiyose, Japan. Aspar Team
Aspar Team (formerly Ángel Nieto Team) is a Grand Prix motorcycle racing team from Spain, competing in the Moto2, Moto3 and MotoE World Championships. History The team was created by former world champion Jorge Martínez in 1992, when he was still riding a Honda RS125R. For 1993 Martínez expanded his operations into the 250cc class debuting with Juan Borja. For the next two seasons the Aspar team switched to Yamaha TZ125 bikes leaving the 250cc division. In 1996 Aspar started an 18-year relationship with Aprilia; in those years he fielded riders like Fonsi Nieto and Arnaud Vincent before entering the 250cc class again, in 2000 with Alex Debón. Kalex Engineering is a German specialty engineering company that designs, manufactures and sells high-performance parts for motorcycles. Kalex Engineering was founded in 2008 in the Bavarian city of Bobingen, Germany by Klaus Hirsekorn and Alex Baumgärtel. Company history The name of Kalex was created by merging the two first names of the company founders, Klaus Hirsekorn and Alex Baumgärtel. In 2010, with the introduction of the new 600 cc Moto2 class using controlled Honda engines, Kalex Engineering began providing its chassis to the Pons Racing team. Stefan Bradl became the first rider to achieve a world title using a Kalex chassis when he won the 2011 Moto2 World Championship for the Viessmann Kiefer Racing team. Jorge Martín
Jorge Martín Almoguera (born 29 January 1998), nicknamed the ''Martinator'', is a Spanish Grand Prix motorcycle racer, who rides for Aprilia Racing. He won the 2024 MotoGP World Championship with Prima Pramac Racing, becoming the first independent team rider to win the premier class title in the MotoGP era. After winning the 2014 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup, Martin moved to the Moto3 class the following year, winning the title in 2018 with Gresini Racing. He spent two years in Moto2 before moving to the premier class with Prima Pramac Racing in 2021. Martin won the Styrian Grand Prix during his first season in MotoGP, ending his rookie year with four pole positions.
