The Toowoomba–Cecil Plains Road enters the locality from the north-east ( Aubigny / Linthorpe) and forms he north-eastern and northern boundaries of the locality. The Oakey-Pittswoth Road enters the locality from the north-east (Aubigny) and forms the south-eastern boundary of the locality. The land use is predominantly crop growing with a small amount of grazing on native vegetation. History The Cecil Plains railway line commenced construction in 1911 and the section passing through Motley opened on 20 September 1915 terminating at the newly named town of Evanslea. Darling Downs
The Darling Downs is a farming region on the western slopes of the Great Dividing Range in southern Queensland, Australia. The Downs are to the west of South East Queensland and are one of the major regions of Queensland. The name was generally applied to an area approximating to that of the Condamine River catchment upstream of Condamine, Queensland, Condamine township but is now applied to a wider region comprising the Southern Downs Regional Council, Southern Downs, Western Downs Regional Council, Western Downs, Toowoomba Regional Council, Toowoomba and Goondiwindi Regional Council, Goondiwindi local authority areas. Biddeston, Queensland
Biddeston is a rural town and Suburbs and localities (Australia), locality in the Toowoomba Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , the locality of Biddeston had a population of 269 people. History Crosshill State School opened on 9 August 1880 and closed on 1940. A postal receiving office opened on 1 February 1882 and was upgraded to a post office on 1 July 1927. During that time it was run by the Anderson family of Biddeston Farm, which is probably the origin of the district name. The post office closed on 5 January 1965. The town reserve was established on 26 August 1890. In 1880, a 10-acre block of land on the Oakey-Southbrook Road was aside for a school. However, it was not until 14 October 1919 that the Biddeston State School finally opened, but with only a tent for a schoolroom for the 14 children enrolled under teacher Margaret Cecilla Cloherty Anderson. Darling Downs Gazette
The ''Darling Downs Gazette'' was a newspaper published from 1848 to 1922 in Drayton and Toowoomba in Queensland, Australia. History ''The Darling Downs Gazette and General Advertiser'' was founded in 1858 by Arthur Sidney Lyon. The first issue of four pages was published on Thursday 10 June 1858 from ''Willow Cottage'', a wooden shanty, in Drayton. After two years, it was purchased by W. H. Byers. Later, William Henry Traill was the proprietor for a brief period. While Drayton, being established in 1842, was the first substantial settlement on the Darling Downs, by the 1860s it was clear that it would be overtaken by nearby Toowoomba in size and importance, leading to Byers relocating the Darling Downs Gazette to Toowoomba in 1861. The Cecil Plains Branch was a branch railway line on the Darling Downs in Queensland, Australia. It branched from the Western railway line at Oakey and terminated at Cecil Plains, a distance of . It operated from 1914 to 1994. History On 5 December 1911, the Parliament of Queensland approved the construction of a line to run from the Darling Downs town of Oakey southwest to the Mount Russell region. Work began in May 1914 and the line to Mount Russell opened on 20 September 1915 terminating at the newly named town of Evanslea. Intermediate stops were established at Tangkam, Yargullen, Aubigny, Purrawunda, Motley, Boora-Mugga, Mount Tyson and Mondam.
