Morris East
Morris East (born August 8, 1973, in Olongapo, Philippines) is a retired Filipino professional boxer and boxing trainer. East is the former GAB Light Middleweight, OPBF and WBA World Light Welterweight champion. Morris has trained world champions Zab Judah and Nonito Donaire. Amateur career As a teenager, East moved to Cebu City and was spotted by Lito Cortes who brought him to the Cebu Coliseum gym. Promoter Sammy Gello-ani then offered him amateur fights to keep him earning for his meals. Professional career WBA Light Welterweight Championship East turned professional in 1989, at the young age of 15, and won the WBA World Light Welterweight Championship by defeating Akinobu Hiranaka with an 11th-round TKO victory in Tokyo on 9 September 1992. Olongapo (), officially the City of Olongapo (; ; ; Kapampangan: ''Lakanbalen/Ciudad ning Olongapo''), is a highly urbanized city in the Central Luzon region of the Philippines. Iloilo Sports Complex
The Iloilo Sports Complex, also known as the Iloilo Sports Center, is a multi-use sports complex in La Paz, Iloilo City, La Paz, Iloilo City, Philippines. It is the venue of Sport of athletics, athletic events in Iloilo province and Western Visayas. It occasionally hosts large gatherings, such as concerts. Its main stadium has a seating capacity of 7,000. The Cebu Coliseum is an indoor arena in Cebu City, Philippines. Its seating capacity is around 5,000. The coliseum hosts various sports events and concerts in Cebu and is the primary venue for Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc., CESAFI games. It was also the home of the Cebu Gems of the defunct Metropolitan Basketball Association, MBA. History Oriental boxing started in the Philippines in 1946 after the Spanish-American War. Many Filipinos who were inspired by boxing, moved to Honolulu, Hawaii to continue their careers. The , often shortened to simply Budokan, is an indoor arena in Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan. It was originally built for the inaugural Olympic judo competition in the 1964 Summer Olympics.
