Moroka Swallows Football Club (often referred to as Swallows or The Birds) is a South African professional association football, football club based in Soweto, Johannesburg, in the Gauteng province. Founded in 1947, Swallows are one of the original two Soweto clubs, together with Orlando Pirates, thus contest what is known as the Original Soweto Derby. Until relegation in the 2014–15 South African Premiership, 2014–15 season, the club had played every season of the South African Premiership, Premiership. They won the 2019–20 National First Division and competed in the 2020–21 South African Premiership, they finished 6th in what was their first season back in top-flight football league system and qualified for 2021 MTN 8 competition. Volkswagen Dobsonville Stadium
The Dobsonville Stadium, formerly Volkswagen Dobsonville Stadium and also referred to as Dobsie Stadium, is a multi-purpose stadium in Soweto, a suburb of Johannesburg, South Africa. The venue is managed by Stadium Management SA (SMSA). It is mostly used for association football, football matches, but is also equipped with an athletics track. It is the home ground of Moroka Swallows F.C., Moroka Swallows, a football club which played in the Premier Soccer League until relegation at the end of the 2014-15 Premier Soccer League, 2014–15 season. The Nedbank Cup is the current name of South Africa's Premier Soccer League, premier club association football, soccer knockout tournament. While many formats have been used over the years, the tournament has always been based on the idea of giving lower league and amateur teams a chance to compete with clubs from the top league for the cup. The tournament is based on the English FA Cup, which has become known for "giant killings" (lower league clubs defeating a top-flight club). The Premier Soccer League (PSL) is the administrative body for professional soccer leagues and cups in South Africa. It is based in Johannesburg, and was founded in 1996 following an agreement between the National Soccer League and the remnants of the National Professional Soccer League (NPSL).
