Montevideo Wanderers Fútbol Club, usually known simply as Wanderers, is a Uruguayan professional football club based in Montevideo. The club are currently members of the Primera División and play at the Estadio Viera. Beside football, the club also has teams playing basketball, volleyball, athletics, futsal, pool and pelota. History Origins (1898–1931) The Montevideo Wanderers was founded in the end of the 19th century, made up of a group of idealistic young people who wanted to express their sporting principles in a club where they were truly the protagonists of their own decisions. Led by the Sardeson brothers, the community quickly became a well-known group in their neighborhood of origin, El Prado. Estadio Parque Alfredo Víctor Viera is a multi-purpose stadium in Montevideo, Uruguay. It is the home of Montevideo Wanderers F.C., Montevideo Wanderers Fútbol Club, and is currently used solely for football (soccer), football matches. Presently the stadium holds 7,527 people and was built in 1933. It has 4 seating sections, named after great players of the team: Obdulio Varela, Cayetano Saporitti, René "Tito" Borjas and Jorge "Chifle" Barrios. Club Atlético Peñarol (), more commonly referred to as Peñarol, is a Uruguayan professional football club based in Montevideo. The club currently competes in the Uruguayan Primera División, the highest tier in Uruguayan football. The name of the club comes from the neighborhood on the outskirts of Montevideo, which itself takes its name from Pinerolo, a town in the metropolitan area of Turin, in the Italian region of Piedmont. Wanderers Stadium
The Wanderers Stadium, also known as the Bullring due to its intimidating atmosphere, is a cricket stadium situated just south of Sandton in Illovo, Johannesburg in Gauteng, South Africa. Test, One Day and First class cricket matches are played here. It is the home ground for the Imperial Lions and the Joburg Super Kings.
