Monte Markham
Monte Markham (born June 21, 1935) is an American actor. He has appeared in films, television series, and on Broadway. Early life Markham was born in Manatee County, Florida, one of four sons of Millie Content (née Willbur) and Jesse Edward Markham Sr., who was a merchant. He attended Palm Beach State College before graduating from the University of Georgia with a master's degree in theater. Blanche Devereaux is a character from the sitcom television series ''The Golden Girls'', and its spin-off '' The Golden Palace''. Blanche was portrayed by Rue McClanahan for 8 years and 204 episodes across the two series. The character was inspired by Blanche DuBois (to whom Blanche Devereaux is compared in the pilot script) and Scarlett O'Hara. McClanahan had previously co-starred with Beatrice Arthur in '' Maude'' and with Betty White in the first two seasons of '' Mama's Family''. ''Guns of the Magnificent Seven'' is a 1969 American Western film styled in the genre of a Zapata Western, and the second sequel to the 1960 film ''The Magnificent Seven'', itself based on Akira Kurosawa's ''Seven Samurai'' (1954). ''Hour of the Gun'' is a 1967 Western film depicting Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday during their 1881 battles against Ike Clanton and his brothers in the gunfight at the O.K. Corral, and the gunfight's aftermath in and around Tombstone, Arizona. It stars James Garner as Earp, Jason Robards as Holliday, and Robert Ryan as Clanton. The film was directed by John Sturges. The Theatre World Award is an American honor presented annually to actors and actresses in recognition of an outstanding New York City stage debut performance, either on Broadway or off-Broadway. It was first awarded for the 1945–1946 theatre season. ''Irene'' is a musical with a book by James Montgomery, lyrics by Joseph McCarthy, and music by Harry Tierney.
