Mont-Saint-Grégoire () is a municipality in the province of Quebec, Canada, located in the Regional County Municipality of Le Haut-Richelieu. The population as of the Canada 2011 Census was 3,086. Residents of Mont-Saint-Grégoire are called ''Grégoriens'' (''Grégoriennes'', fem.). History Mont-Saint-Grégoire was named for Gregory the Great, pope from 590 to 604, who was succeeded by Sabinian. Marieville, Quebec
Marieville is a city in the Canadian province of Quebec. It is located within the Rouville Regional County Municipality in the Montérégie region about east of Montreal. The population as of the Canada 2011 Census was 10,094. History In 1708, Sieur Claude de Ramezey obtained a parcel of land which was named the Monnoir manor. Population increased starting at around 1740. It became a parish in 1832 and officially an incorporated municipality in 1858 and later an incorporated city in 1905. In 2000, the parish of Sainte-Marie-de-Monnoir, which previously demerged from Marieville in 1855 was re-merged. Its main economic activity today is still agriculture. Geography Marieville is accessible via Quebec Autoroute 10, which runs from Montreal to Sherbrooke via Granby and Magog. André Bessette
André Bessette, C.S.C. (9 August 1845 – 6 January 1937), more commonly known as Brother André (french: Frère André), and since his canonization as Saint André of Montreal, was a lay brother of the Congregation of Holy Cross and a significant figure of the Catholic Church among French-Canadians, credited with thousands of reported miraculous oil healings associated with his pious devotion to Saint Joseph. Bessette was declared venerable in 1978 and was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 1982. Pope Sabinian ( la, Sabinianus, died 22 February 606) was the bishop of Rome from 13 September 604 to his death. His pontificate occurred during the Eastern Roman domination of the papacy. He was the fourth former ''apocrisiarius'' to Constantinople to be elected pope. Apocrisiariat Sabinian was born at Blera (Bieda) near Viterbo. He had been sent by Pope Gregory I, who had a high opinion of him, as ''apocrisiarius'' to the imperial court in Constantinople. In 595, Gregory was angered by Sabinian's lack of resolution in discussion with Emperor Maurice about the disputed assumption of the title "ecumenical patriarch" by John IV of Constantinople. Sabinian was then recalled and sent on a mission to Gaul the same year. He returned to Rome in 597. Pontificate Sabinian was elected to succeed Gregory probably in March 604, but had to wait for imperial ratification before being consecrated in September.
