Cleve Moler
Cleve Barry Moler is an American mathematician and computer programmer specializing in numerical analysis. In the mid to late 1970s, he was one of the authors of LINPACK and EISPACK, Fortran libraries for numerical computing. He invented MATLAB, a numerical computing package, to give his students at the University of New Mexico easy access to these libraries without writing Fortran. In 1984, he co-founded MathWorks with Jack Little to commercialize this program. Biography He received his bachelor's degree from California Institute of Technology in 1961, and a Ph.D. in 1965 from Stanford University, both in mathematics. He worked for Charles Lawson at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in 1961 and 1962. He was a professor of mathematics and computer science for almost 20 years at the University of Michigan, Stanford University, and the University of New Mexico. Jovan Stergević also spelled Jovan Stergijević, though better known as Janja Moler (c. 1780-1841) was a Serbian iconographer who lived and worked in Serbia. Biography Most icons of the old churches in Kragujevac are the work of ''zograf'' (means painter in Serbian) Jovan Stergević (also spelled Sterijević), best known by his nickname Janja Moler, who left Old Serbia in the early 1820 and settled with his family at Kragujevac. There he earned the trust of Miloš Obrenović who employed him as his court artist and commissioned him to paint his foundation, the Church of the Holy See in 1823 The wooden church was replaced by the Holy Trinity Church in 1892-1894, however, the iconostasis and the icons painted by Janja Moler and other artists and craftsmen remained until this day. Janko Mihailović Moler (in Cyrillic Serbian: Јанко Михаиловић Молер; Negrišori, Ottoman Empire, 1792 - Negrišori, Principality of Serbia, 1853) was a Serbian priest and artist. Kathryn Ann Moler (born 1966) is an American physicist, and current Dean of Research at Stanford University. She received her BSc (1988) and Ph.D. (1995) from Stanford University. After working as a visiting scientist at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center in 1995, she held a postdoctoral position at Princeton University from 1995-1998. She joined the faculty of Stanford University in 1998, and became an Associate in CIFAR's Superconductivity Program (now called the Quantum Materials Program) in 2000. She became an Associate Professor (with tenure) at Stanford in 2002 and is currently a Professor of Applied Physics and of Physics at Stanford. Petar Nikolajević Moler
Petar Nikolajević Moler (1775 – summer 1816), whose sobriquet "Moler" meant "the painter", was a Serbian revolutionary, participating in both the First and Second phases, serving as the Prime Minister from 1815 to 1816. Biography Moler was educated as a painter, known for his works in several monasteries in the pre-Uprising period, and thus earning his nickname, Moler (painter in Serbian). He was a nephew of Hadži-Ruvim, who was executed by the Dahije (renegade Janissaries) during the Slaughter of the knezes. In the First Serbian Uprising, Moler distinguished himself in battle near the village of Jelenča. During the uprising, he painted the church built by Karađorđe in Topola. During the defense of Loznica in 1813, because of a lack of ink, Moler wrote a letter with his blood to the leaders of the uprising.
