Brian Molefe
Brian Molefe is a South African businessman and business executive. He was elected as a member of the National Assembly, representing the UMkhonto we Sizwe, in the 2024 South African general election. Molefe rose to prominence during his tenure as the CEO of the Public Investment Corporation, heading the secretariat as CEO at the beginning of the corporatisation of the PIC in 2003 through 2010, leaving the organisation with assets under management of R900bn at the expiry of this contract. He was previously a political activist and politician. He is best known for his roles as the CEO of the Public Investment Corporation (2003 –2010), CEO of Transnet (2010 –2015) and Eskom (2015 –2016). On 29 August 2022, Molefe was arrested on corruption charges linked to a R93-million corruption and fraud case into the purchase of locomotives for Transnet. Popo Molefe
Popo Simon Molefe OLS (born 26 April 1952) is a businessman and former politician from South Africa. Early life One of eight children, Molefe was the son of a laborer and a domestic worker, though he was raised largely by one of his aunts, Sanah Tsatsimpe. He attended Naledi High School in Soweto. He became involved in political activism as a student, joining the Black People's Convention in 1973, and the South African Students' Movement in 1974. While a member of the latter organization, he participated in the Soweto Uprising of 1976. Molefe is a member of the Methodist Church of South Africa. Political involvement Molefe was one of the founding members of the Azanian People's Organization at its formation in 1978 and became the first chairman of the Soweto branch in 1979. California Molefe (born 12 March 1980) is a Botswana runner who won a silver medal in 400 metres at the 2006 IAAF World Indoor Championships in Moscow, becoming the first Botswana athlete to win a major international medal. His only title prior to 2006 was a bronze medal at the 1999 African Junior Championships. He competed at the 2004 Olympics, getting knocked out in the heats in the individual contest and placing eighth in the final with the 4 x 400 metres relay team.
