Mokha
Mokha (), also spelled Mocha, or Mukha, is a port city on the Red Sea coast of Yemen. Until Aden and al Hudaydah eclipsed it in the 19th century, Mokha was the principal port for Yemen's capital, Sanaa. Long known for its coffee trade, the city gave its name to Caffè mocha, Mocha coffee. Overview Mocha was the major marketplace for many commodities, including, but not limited to coffee (''Coffea arabica'') from the 16th century through the 19th century. The coffee itself did not grow in Mocha, but was transported from Ethiopia and inland Yemen to the port in Mocha, where it was then shipped abroad. Caffè Mocha
A mocha ( or ), also called mocaccino (), is a chocolate-flavoured variant of caffè latte, commonly served warm or hot in a glass rather than a mug. Other commonly used spellings are mochaccino and also mochachino. The name is derived from the city of Mokha, Taiz Governorate, Yemen, which was one of the centres of early coffee trade. The name is sometimes shortened to just mocha. The Mocha coffee bean is a variety of coffee bean originally from Yemen. It is harvested from the coffee-plant species ''Coffea arabica'', which is native to Yemen. Turkish coffee is a style of coffee prepared in a '' cezve'' using very finely ground coffee beans without filtering or settling to remove the grounds. Jerónimo Lobo (1595 – 29 January 1678) was a Portuguese Jesuit missionary. He took part in the unsuccessful efforts to convert Ethiopia from the native Ethiopian church to Roman Catholicism until the expulsion of the Jesuits in 1643.
