Mohammed Monwar Hossain
Mohammed Monwar Hossain (; born 30 August 1979) is a Bangladeshi football coach and former player. He represented the Bangladesh national team from 1998 to 2006. Club career A product of BKSP he began his club career with Fakirerpool YMC in 1995. International career Monwar played for the Bangladesh national team from 1998 to 2006. He made it to the regular eleven of the national team without playing any age-based international match, while still only being 19. He later served as the captain of U-16, U-19 and also the U-23 team during the 2004 South Asian Games, in Pakistan. In senior level, Monwar won the 1999 South Asian Games and the 2003 SAFF Championship. He was a member of the runner-up Bangladesh team in the 1999 SAFF Championship. On 30 March 2003, Manowar scored his first and only senior international goal, during a 2–2 draw with Hong Kong, at the 2004 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers. Bangladesh National Football Team
The Bangladesh national football team () is the national recognised football team of Bangladesh and is controlled by the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF). It is a member of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) since 1973 and of FIFA since 1976, even though the Bangladesh Football Federation was first founded in 1972. Bangladesh was elected as a member of the AFC Executive Committee in 1982–1986 and 1998–2002. The current Executive Committee was elected democratically, under an AFC approved constitution and direct supervision of FIFA & AFC, in October 2024. South Asian Games
The South Asian Games is a quadrennial multi-sport event held among athletes from South Asia. The South Asia Olympic Council, which was formed in 1983, governs it. The Games consist of seven countries, namely Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Afghanistan had participated in the Games four times, but left the SAOC after participating in 2016. The first South Asian Games were hosted by Kathmandu, Nepal in 1984. From 1984 to 1987 they were held every year except 1986, as it was a year of Commonwealth Games and Asian Games. From 1987 onwards, they have been held every two years except for some occasions. In 2004, the South Asian Sports Council decided to rename the games from the South Asian Federation Games to the South Asian Games as officials believed the word federation was diminishing the emphasis on the event and acting as a barrier to attracting spectators. Arambagh Krira Sangha
Arambagh Krira Sangha is a Bangladeshi sports club based in Dhaka, that competes in the Bangladesh Championship League, the second-tier of football in Bangladesh. History Arambagh Krira Sangha were formed in Dhaka way back in 1958. Originally established as a football club, Arambagh later added handball, basketball and volleyball in their roster. However, they became the first club from Bangladesh who played in final in an international club tournament during 1981 ANFA Cup, hosted by Nepal. They also finished runners-up twice in the Sikkim Gold Cup. In 1997, the club took part in a football tournament at Agartala that marked the golden jubilee of the independence of India. The Tajikistan national football team represents Tajikistan in international football and is controlled by the Tajikistan Football Federation, the governing body for football in Tajikistan. Tajikistan's home ground is the Pamir Stadium in Dushanbe. History Tajikistan played its first official game on 11 April 1994 in Tashkent as part of a regional tournament. It lost that game against Kazakhstan 0–1. 2004 AFC Asian Cup Qualification
The qualification process for the 2004 AFC Asian Cup football competition began in March 2003. Out of the 45 AFC members, only Cambodia and the Philippines failed to enter for the tournament. Both China, the hosts and Japan, the reigning champions automatically qualified for the finals. The lowest ranked 20 teams were placed in 6 preliminary qualifying groups of 3 and one group of 2, with the group winners joining the remaining 21 teams in 7 groups of 4. Football At The 2004 South Asian Games
Men's football tournament at 2004 South Asian Games was held across 3 venues in Pakistan from March 28 to April 6, 2004. The tournament was delayed twice due to developments related to Pakistan's support as a major non-NATO ally in the fight against terrorism against the Afghan Taliban and Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan and US foreign policy at the time following 9/11. Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP) (, Bangladesh Institute of Sports Education) is the national sports institute of Bangladesh. It is residential and is located at Savar, about north-west of the capital, Dhaka, and about north of the National Martyrs' Memorial. It is a government-funded autonomous institution.
