Moccasin is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Mohave County, Arizona, United States. It is within the Kaibab Indian Reservation, and its population was 53 as of the 2020 census, down from 89 at the 2010 census. It is bordered to the south by the CDP of Kaibab. It is believed a moccasin-shaped shoe-print by a nearby spring caused the name to be selected. Sometime in the late 1800s. Kaibab, Arizona
Kaibab is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Mohave County, Arizona, United States. It is within the Kaibab Indian Reservation. The population of the CDP was 140 at the 2020 census. Geography Kaibab is located in the northeast corner of Mohave County. Arizona State Route 389 forms the southern edge of the CDP; the highway leads northeast to Fredonia and northwest to Colorado City. The townsite of Kaibab is north of AZ 389 on Pipe Spring Road. Pipe Spring National Monument is in the southwest corner of the CDP, close to AZ 389. The CDP is bordered to the north by the CDP of Moccasin. The Kaibab Indian Reservation is the home of the Kaibab Band of Paiute Indians ( Southern Paiute Language: Kai'vi'vits), a federally recognized tribe of Southern Paiutes. Fredonia, Arizona
Fredonia is a town in Coconino County, Arizona, United States. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 1,314. Fredonia is the gateway to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. History Fredonia was laid out in 1886. Its name is said to mean the "land of free women." The town's cemetery has graves dating from the 1880s. The town suffered economically from the re-routing of U.S. 89 in 1960. While the highway previously went through Fredonia, it was re-routed north of the Glen Canyon dam, and the town lost several businesses due to a drop in traffic. Senator Barry Goldwater gave the commencement at Fredonia High School in 1964. Kaibab Forest Products was the major industry in town until 1995, when it closed and laid off 200 workers.
