''Mmhmm'' is the fourth full-length studio album by American rock band Relient K, released on November 2, 2004, by Gotee Records, Gotee and Capitol Records. This album includes their breakthrough singles "Be My Escape" and "Who I Am Hates Who I've Been" and also earned the group a Canadian Juno Awards of 2006, Juno Award nomination for Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album of the Year in 2006. It was certified gold album, Gold in 2005 by the Recording Industry Association of America, RIAA for sales in excess of 500,000 units in the United States and has sold over 800,000 copies in the US. It won the 2006 Dove Award for Rock Album of the Year at the 37th GMA Dove Awards. Release The album was the band's first on Capitol Records; and bassist Brian Pittman's last album with the band. Relient K
Relient K () is an American Rock music, rock band formed in 1998 in Canton, Ohio by Matt Thiessen, Matt Hoopes, and Brian Pittman during their third year in high school and time at Malone University in Canton. The band is named after guitarist Hoopes' automobile, a Plymouth Reliant Chrysler K platform, K car, with the spelling intentionally altered to avoid trademark infringement over the ''Reliant'' name. The group is associated with the contemporary Christian music culture, most notably the Christian rock and Christian punk, punk scene. They have also performed alongside secular artists. The band has reached critical success with mainstream pop punk, pop-punk and alternative rock; additionally, their sound incorporates piano and acoustic music, acoustic elements. Matt Thiessen
Matthew Arnold Thiessen (born August 12, 1980) is a Canadian-born American musician known for being co-founder, lead singer, guitarist, pianist, and primary songwriter for the rock band Relient K. With Relient K, he has released eight full-length albums, including three that were certified Gold, and three that peaked in the top twenty on the ''Billboard'' 200. Outside of his work with Relient K, Thiessen leads a side project called Matthew Thiessen and the Earthquakes, which released its debut album ''Wind Up Bird'' in 2018. In 2009, he co-produced and collaborated on Owl City's album '' Ocean Eyes''. Be My Escape
"Be My Escape" is a song by American Christian rock band Relient K. It was released in November 2004 as the lead single from their fourth full-length album, ''Mmhmm'' (2004). The song was their first entry on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100, where it peaked at number 82 and is usually referred to as Relient K's most popular mainstream song, other than " Who I Am Hates Who I've Been". Brian Pittman
Brian Lee Pittman (born October 21, 1980) is an American musician most notable as the former bassist for the Christian rock band Relient K, of which he was a founding member. He has also played bass for the Christian metal band Inhale Exhale. Career Relient K Pittman played bass for Relient K from the band's beginning in 1998 until Bleach's farewell show on August 29, 2004. He contributed to 13 Relient K projects, including five full-length albums, four EPs, a two-track single, and two Christmas albums. The last album he contributed to was ''Mmhmm'' (the band's fourth album), along with longtime bandmates Matt Thiessen, Matt Hoopes, and Dave Douglas. ''Apathetic EP'' is the fifth EP released by Relient K. It was released on November 8, 2005, and was initially packaged with copies of ''Mmhmm'', but is also available separately. The EP reached no. 94 on the Billboard 200. The song "In Like a Lion (Always Winter)" was originally intended to be included on the album '' Music Inspired by The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe'' but was later excluded. "Who I Am Hates Who I've Been" is a song by American Christian rock band Relient K. It was released in June 2005 as the second single from their 2004 album ''Mmhmm''. An acoustic version, originally recorded for ''Apathetic EP'', is included on the B-side, was included on the 2008 ''The Bird and the Bee Sides'' album. The 37th Annual GMA Dove Awards, also called the 37th Annual GMA Music Awards, were held on April 5, 2006 recognizing accomplishments of Christian musicians for the year 2005. The show was held at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tennessee, and was hosted by Rebecca St. James and Kirk Franklin. Gotee Records is a record label of Christian hip-hop, based in Franklin, Tennessee in the United States. History The label was founded in 1994 by TobyMac, Todd Collins and Joey Elwood. The first album produced is Out of Eden's '' Lovin' the Day''. The label was a part of EMI Christian Music Group. However, they bought back EMI's minority share to become fully independent again as of March 31, 2008. The Juno Awards of 2006 were held in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada on the weekend of 31 March to 2 April 2006. These ceremonies honour music industry achievements in Canada during the previous year. The primary ceremonies were hosted by Pamela Anderson at the Halifax Metro Centre on 2 April and televised on CTV. Buck 65 was the ceremony's introduction and preview announcer.
