Mix 102.3 (call sign: 5ADD) is a commercial FM radio station in Adelaide, Australia, owned by ARN. Mix 102.3 plays current hits and a variety of 1980s and 1990s music (Hot Adult Contemporary), primarily targeted at the 25–54 age group. Adelaide's Mix 102.3 is part of the KIIS Network with sister stations in other major Australian cities – KIIS 106.5 Sydney, KIIS 101.1 Melbourne, KIIS 97.3 Brisbane, 96FM Perth and Mix 106.3 Canberra. History Mix 102.3 began its life as AM (1310 later 1323 kHz) station 5AD on 2 August 1930, originally owned by the Advertiser Newspapers, who also owned local television station ADS-7 from 1959 until 1986. During its early years, 5AD broadcast a wide range of programs, from orchestral concerts to comedies, serials and sporting events. Dean Jaensch
Dean Harold Jaensch (27 October 1936 – 17 January 2022) was an Australian political scientist and a Professor of Political and International Studies at The Flinders University of South Australia. Jaensch was awarded a Bachelor of Arts (Honours), a Master of Arts and PhD from the University of Adelaide. He wrote many highly regarded books (14) on political parties, electoral politics and voting behaviour in Australian politics, and also focussed on South Australian and Northern Territory politics, federalism within the Anglosphere and empirical methodology. He lectured at Flinders University from the early 1970s until retirement in 2001. He was an adjunct Professor with the Department of Politics and Public Policy. Tony Pilkington
Tony Pilkington is a South Australian radio personality. He is best known for "Bazz and Pilko", his long running breakfast show partnership with Barry Ion. Their show aired in Adelaide from 1976 to 1984, then Sydney from 1985 to 1991, then back in Adelaide until 1996. He continued to work at Adelaide's 5AA until retiring in 2010. In 2011 he was inducted into the Australian Commercial Radio Hall of Fame. After nine years of semi-retirement, Pilko is set for a return to Adelaide airwaves once again. As of 2020 Pilkington will host the afternoon show, 12:30 to 3pm weekdays on Adelaide's 5AA.Tony Pilkington OAM

Barry Ion
Barry Vincent Ion (born 9 October 1941) is a former Australian rules footballer and radio personality. He played with Footscray in the Victorian Football League (VFL), Yarraville in the Victorian Football Association (VFA), and Woodville in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). He became a well known radio personality in Adelaide and Sydney. Ion started in radio early, commentating football matches for Melbourne radio in 1960, while also playing with the Carlton Rovers. He joined his elder brother, Graham Ion, at Footscray in 1961 and played with him in the 1961 VFL Grand Final, as a half back flanker. The grand final was just his sixth league game, having played just four home and away matches before the finals series. He made 29 appearances over the next two seasons, but then struggled with injuries, playing just five more games. Keith Andrew Conlon, LL.B. 1968, B.A. 1968 (University of Adelaide), OAM, (born 30 April 1944) is a veteran Australian broadcaster based in Adelaide. Career Conlon first came to public attention in South Australia in the mid-1960s as a member, with twins Peter and Martin Wesley-Smith, of the folk-singing group "The Wesley Three", who had several successes on the local hit parades, including the children's song "Little Tommy". He joined the ABC Television ABS2 ''This Day Tonight'' current affairs team in 1970, and later had his own current affairs show "The Keith Conlon Hour" on Radio 5AD. In 1971, The University of Adelaide's Department of Adult Education appointed Conlon as the Producer/Manager of its new community radio station which commenced broadcasting as VL5UV on 28 June 1972. Robert Neville "Bob" Francis (11 March 1939 – 12 November 2016) was an Egyptian-born Australian radio presenter and talk back host in Adelaide. He is remembered for his activism in getting the organisers of The Beatles' tour of 1964 to reverse their decision to bypass Adelaide. Life and career Francis was born in Cairo, Egypt, in 1939. Major Broadcasting Network
The Major Broadcasting Network was an important part of the Australian broadcasting scene from 1938 until the 1970s. History and background In 1938, David Worrall, manager of 3DB Melbourne, launched the Major Broadcasting Network. Up until its closure in the 1970s, MBS was Australia's second most important radio network, after the Macquarie Radio Network. At inception, the Major Network was made up of stations in all mainland state capital cities, i.e. 2UE, 3DB, 4BK, 5AD, 6PR. They were soon to be joined by 7HT.
