Misto (novel)
''The City'' () is an urban novel by Ukrainian writer Valerian Pidmohylny, published in 1928. Its first English translation is forthcoming. Pidmohylny created the modern novel, which is focused on urban problems and touches upon philosophical questions of being. In this novel psyche of the characters is analyzed and the conflict takes place between people with different worldviews. ''Misto'' is the first urban novel in the Ukrainian literature, with new characters, issues and narrative style. History of writing In the novel Valerian Pidmohylnyi described the Ukrainian peasant youth, who in the early 1920s went in thousands to the cities to conquer them, pour a fresh peasant blood into them, and liquidate the Ukrainian antagonism between the city and the country. A huarizo, also known as a llapaca, is a domesticated hybrid cross between a male llama and a female alpaca. The misti is a similar hybrid; it is a cross between a male alpaca and a female llama. The most common hybrid between South American camelids, huarizo tend to be much smaller than llamas, with their fibre being longer.
