Missamma
''Missamma'' () is a 1955 Indian Telugu-language romantic comedy film directed by L. V. Prasad. It was produced by Nagi Reddi and Chakrapani on Vijaya Productions banner. The film stars N. T. Rama Rao, Savitri, Akkineni Nageswara Rao and Jamuna. The script was adapted by Chakrapani from Rabindranath Maitra's Bengali play ''Manmoyee Girls' School''. It revolves around two unemployed people — M. T. Rao and Mary — who pose as a married couple to obtain employment in a high school founded by Gopalam, a zamindar. As Rao and Mary fall in love, Gopalam's nephew A. K. Raju learns that Mary is Gopalam's missing elder daughter Mahalakshmi; she is unaware of her true identity. Production began in early 1954 with P. Bhanumathi cast as the female lead, though she would eventually be replaced by Savitri. The film was simultaneously shot in Tamil as '' Missiamma'', with an altered cast. Chakrapani (filmmaker)
Aluru Venkata Subbarao (5 August 1908 – 24 September 1975), popularly known by his pen name Chakrapani, was an Indian screenwriter, film producer, studio owner, and director in Telugu cinema. He received two Filmfare Awards and was notable for his association with Vijaya Vauhini Studios, one of Asia's largest studios at the time. Chakrapani was also a partner at Vijaya Productions alongside B. Nagi Reddi and co-founded Chandamama, the children's magazine. Marcus Bartley (22 April 1917 14 March 1993) was an Anglo-Indian cinematographer known for his works predominantly in Telugu cinema along with a few Hindi, Malayalam, and Tamil films. Bommireddy Nagi Reddi (2 December 1912 – 25 February 2004) was an Indian film producer primarily associated with Telugu cinema, along with notable contributions to Tamil and Hindi films. He co-founded Vijaya Vauhini Studios in Madras, which was once the largest film studio in Asia by floor space. To distinguish him from his elder brother, filmmaker B. N. Reddi, he was popularly known as B. Nagi Reddi. ''Miss Mary'' is a 1957 Indian Hindi-language comedy film directed by L. V. Prasad. The movie is an AVM Production and directed by L. V. Prasad. The film is a remake of Prasad's 1955 Telugu-Tamil bilingual film '' Missamma'' / ''Missiamma'', which itself was a remake of the 1935 Bengali language, Bengali film ''Maanmoyee Girls' School''. It stars Meena Kumari in the titular role, Kishore Kumar and Gemini Ganesan, Ganesh(Gemini Ganesan). The music was by Hemant Kumar with the lyrics and dialogue written by Rajendra Krishan. Jamuna (30 August 1936 – 27 January 2023; ''née'' Nippani) was an Indian actress, director, and politician who appeared mainly in Telugu cinema. She made her acting debut at age 16 in Dr. Garikapati Rajarao's ''Puttillu'' (1953), and received her breakthrough with L. V. Prasad '' Missamma'' (1955). Mullapudi Venkata Ramana (28 June 1931 – 24 February 2011) was an Indian writer known for his work in Telugu language. Noted for his humorous and metaphorical style of writing, Mullapudi received Raghupathi Venkaiah Award from the Government of Andhra Pradesh in 1986 for his contributions to Telugu cinema and he also won six Nandi Awards. Mullapudi is noted for his association with Bapu, who both worked together as Bapu–Ramana.
