Mis-Teeq
Mis-Teeq were a British girl group, consisting of Sabrina Washington, Su-Elise Nash and Alesha Dixon. They were active from 1999 to 2005. Mis-Teeq had two top-ten albums and seven consecutive top-ten singles on the UK Singles Chart, as well as success across Europe, Asia, Australia and the US. Their debut studio album '' Lickin' on Both Sides'' on 27 October 2001, peaked at number three on the UK Albums Chart and was certified double platinum. The album featured the group's first five singles, all of which became UK top 10 hits, including their debut single " Why?" with McNally and " All I Want". On 29 March 2003, following a hiatus, they released their second studio album '' Eye Candy'', also a double platinum success. Scandalous (Mis-Teeq Song)
"Scandalous" is a song by British girl group Mis-Teeq. It was composed by band members Su-Elise Nash, Alesha Dixon, and Sabrina Washington along with frequent collaborators Hallgeir Rustan, Stargate (production team), Tor Erik Hermansen, and Stargate (production team), Mikkel Eriksen for their second studio album, ''Eye Candy (album), Eye Candy'' (2003), with record production handled by the latter two under their production moniker Stargate (production team), StarGate. Written in the key of C minor, "Scandalous" is an up-tempo contemporary R&B, R&B song with a heavy bassline, strings, a siren sound, and suggestive lyrics. The song became a hit throughout Europe and Oceania, reaching the top 10 in Australia, Denmark, Ireland, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. Alesha Dixon
Alesha Anjanette Dixon (born 7 October 1978) is an English singer, rapper, dancer, television personality, and author. She rose to prominence in the early 2000s as a member of the R&B / UK Garage group Mis-Teeq, who had seven UK top 10 hits, two top 10 double platinum albums, and sold over 12 million records worldwide. After Mis-Teeq disbanded in 2005, Dixon signed with Polydor Records to release her debut solo album, '' Fired Up'' (2006); due to insufficient commercial reception from its lead singles, "Lipstick" and " Knockdown", she was dropped from Polydor. In 2007, Dixon was a contestant on the fifth series of the BBC One dancing competition show ''Strictly Come Dancing,'' which she won. ''Eye Candy'' is the second and final studio album by British girl group Mis-Teeq. It was released by Telstar Records on 29 March 2003 in the United Kingdom. As with their previous album '' Lickin' on Both Sides'' (2001), the trio worked with producers StarGate, Ed Case, Mushtaq, and Rishi Rich on the majority of the album, but also consulted new collaborators such as Dave Kelly, Salaam Remi and singer Joe. Musically, ''Eye Candy'' took the band's sound further into the contemporary R&B genre, combining pop and soul music with heavy hip hop, garage and reggae elements. Upon release, the album received generally positive reviews. It debuted and peaked at number six on the UK Albums Chart, selling 33,500 copies first week, and reached number 11 on the Scottish Albums Chart, eventually reaching gold status in the United Kingdom where its sales exceeded 100,000 units in April 2004. Sabrina Fredrica Washington (born 27 October 1978) is a British singer, actress, and entrepreneur initially known as the lead singer of UK garage, garage/contemporary R&B, R&B girl group Mis-Teeq. Early life Washington was born in Harlesden, on 27 October 1978. Her father was a reggae musician, which influenced her early exposure to music. Career Washington's career began in 1999, when she met Alesha Dixon and they joined ''Fulham Baths, Dance Attic'' (a popular dance class school in Fulham, west London), soon becoming a duo. In 2000, when both Alesha and Sabrina were auditioning, they met with Su-Elise Nash and formed a trio. ''Lickin' on Both Sides'' is the debut studio album by British R&B/UK garage group Mis-Teeq, released by Telstar Records on 29 October 2001. It was primarily produced by Stargate, with additional production from Jensen & Larsson, and Synth among others. The album became a top-five success in the United Kingdom, reaching number three on the national albums chart. The album was re-released three times, with the final release, a special edition, being released on 22 June 2002. ''Lickin' on Both Sides'' was certified double platinum in the UK. "Why?" is the debut single by British girl group Mis-Teeq. It was written by Alan Glass, David Brant, Ronald St. Louis, and Maryann Morgan and produced by Brant for Vybrant Music. Originally a midtempo R&B track, it was remixed into an uptempo UK garage remix by Matt "Jam" Lamont and DJ Face. Su-Elise Michelle Nash (born 22 May 1981) is an English singer who rose to fame in the now-defunct girl group Mis-Teeq. Career Nash was born in Dulwich, and is of Jamaican and English descent, As a member of Mis-Teeq with Sabrina Washington and Alesha Dixon. Nash performed in various talents since she was a child, but had commenced a business degree at Middlesex University before becoming a member of Mis-Teeq. She has four sisters, Lisa, Chrystina, Helena and Savannah. After the departure of Mis-Teeq, Nash continued with her studies, earning teaching qualifications, and has opened her own performing arts school called the "Su-Elise Stage School" based in Gravesend, Kent. In September 2009 it was confirmed that during an interview at the MOBO Awards that Nash was working on her solo debut album entitled ''Long Way Round'', due to be released in 2010. Tina Barrett
Tina Ann Barrett (born 16 September 1976) is an English singer and actress. Her major breakthrough came in 1999 when she became a member of the pop group S Club. She has been a member of spin-off group S Club Allstars (previously "S Club 3") since 2014. She is also a former member of the girl group Mis-Teeq, though she never appeared on any of their recordings. Zena McNally (born 8 March 1979) is an English former-radio presenter and singer, best known as one of the original members of girl-group Mis-Teeq. She left in early 2001, only featuring on the group's first single ''Why''. UK Garage
UK garage, abbreviated as UKG, is a genre of electronic dance music which originated in England in the early to mid-1990s. The genre was most clearly inspired by garage house and jungle production methods, but also incorporates elements from dance-pop and R&B. It is defined by percussive, shuffled rhythms with syncopated hi-hats, cymbals, and snares, and may include either 4/4 house kick patterns or more irregular " 2-step" rhythms.
