Miroslav Škeřík
Miroslav Škeřík (14 October 1924 – 11 January 2013) was a Czechs, Czech professional basketball player. At 6'5 " (1.97 m) tall, he played the center (basketball), center position. He was the FIBA EuroBasket Top Scorer, top scorer of EuroBasket 1955, averaging 19.1 points per game. Club playing career In his sports club, club career, Škeřík won 5 Czechoslovak Basketball League, Czechoslovak League championships (1954, 1955, 1956, 1957, 1959). National team career Škeřík helped lead the senior Czechoslovakia national basketball team, Czechoslovakia national team to three EuroBasket silver medals in EuroBasket 1951, 1951, 1955 EuroBasket, 1955, and 1959 EuroBasket, 1959, as well as to a EuroBasket bronze medal in EuroBasket 1957. Košice

The 1957 FIBA European Championship, commonly called FIBA EuroBasket 1957, was the tenth FIBA EuroBasket regional basketball championship, held by FIBA Europe. Sixteen national teams affiliated with the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) entered the competition. The competition was hosted by Bulgaria. Basketball at the Summer Olympics has been a sport for men consistently since 1936. Prior to its inclusion as a medal sport, basketball was held as an unofficial demonstration event in 1904 and 1924. Women's basketball made its debut in the Summer Olympics in 1976. FIBA organizes both the men's and women's FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournaments and the Summer Olympics basketball tournaments, which are sanctioned by the IOC. The United States is by far the most successful country in Olympic basketball, with United States men's teams having won 17 of 20 tournaments in which they participated, including seven consecutive titles from 1936 through 1968.
