Mireia Miró Varela
Mireia Miró Varela (born 31 July 1988) is a Spanish ski mountaineer and long-distance runner. Miró was born in Barcelona. She started ski mountaineering in 2005 and competed first in the Cronoescalada race in Cerler in 2006. In the same year she became a member of the national team (Equipo PNTD Esquí de Montaña) and a "high level athlete" of the high sports council () of the Spanish government (No. 47.641.303 - Montaña y Escalada). Mountain Attack
The "Mountain Attack" is an annual Austrian ski mountaineering competition, carried out near Saalbach since 1999. The competition is separated in a short distance and a long distance course, each offered for a female and a male racer class. There is a separate ranking of racers, older than 45 years. The marathon track passes six summits, and includes an altitude difference of 3,000 meters for the total ascent and for skiing down. Naila is a town in the Hof district of Bavaria, Germany. It lies in the Franconian Forest. Naila is from the larger city of Hof, on both banks of the Selbitz river. History The earliest documentation of Naila was recorded on 9 January 1343. The first settlements in the area around Naila probably happened between the 12th and 14th century. The name Naila first appeared as "Neulins" (and variations thereof), has its origins most likely in the meaning "Small new settlement". In 1454, Naila was awarded a coat of arms by its overlord, Margrave John. After a brief episode under Prussian reign (1792–1810), Naila was included into the newly-established Kingdom of Bavaria. Izaskun Zubizarreta Gerendiain (30 September 1970 – 5 August 2024) was a Spanish ski mountaineer. Biography Zubizarreta was born in Oiartzun on 30 September 1970. She started ski mountaineering in 1997 and competed first in the Cronoescalada race in Cerler in 2006. In the same year, she became a member of the national team. Zubizarreta Gerendiain died on 5 August 2024, at the age of 53.
