The Cameroon Armed Forces () are the military of the Republic of Cameroon. The armed forces number 40,000 personnel in ground, air, and naval forces. There are approximately 40,000 troops in the army across three military regions. Approximately 1,300 troops are part of the Cameroonian Navy, which is headquartered at Douala. Under 600 troops are part of the Air Force. Edgar Alain Mebe Ngo'o (born 22 January 1957"Mebe Ngo'o Edgar Alain", ''Cameroun: Les Hommes de Pouvoir'', number 7Africa Intelligence 17 September 2002 .) is a Cameroonian politician who has occupied multiple positions in the government of Cameroon and has served in the government of Cameroon as Minister of Transport from 2015 to 2017. Remy Ze Meka is a Cameroonian politician who served as the Minister of Defense from 2004 to 2009. Biography Meka was born January 30, 1952 in Dja-et-Lobo, and is ethnically Fang. He is a former seminarian with a doctorate in law. Meka served as the director of the Cameroonian National Gendarmerie, and was appointed Minister of Defense on December 9, 2004. Joseph Beti Assomo is a Cameroonian politician who has served as the Minister of Defense of Cameroon since 2015. Assomo also served as the governor of Far North Region between 2010 and 2012 and Littoral Region between 2012 and 2015. Biography Assomo was born on August 17, 1959, in Ayos, Nyong-et-Mfoumou division, Cameroon. Assomo received his primary education at Ayos Main School and his secondary education at Akonolinga Mixed High School.
