The Minister of Sports () is a cabinet member in the Government of France. The position has changed names a number of times since its creation, having occasionally been discontinued or regrouped with the Minister of National Education. Since 2022 Amélie Oudéa-Castéra has served Minister for Sport and the Olympic & Paralympic Games. Marie Barsacq (; born 3 August 1973) is a French politician who has been serving as Minister of Sports (France), Minister of Sports in the Bayrou government, government of Prime Minister of France, Prime Minister François Bayrou since 2024. Maurice Herzog
Maurice André Raymond Herzog (; 15 January 191913 December 2012) was a French mountaineer and administrator who was born in Lyon, France. He led the 1950 French Annapurna expedition that first climbed a peak over 8000m, Annapurna, in 1950, and reached the summit with Louis Lachenal. Upon his return, he wrote a best-selling book about the expedition, '' Annapurna''. Ascent of Annapurna I: a historic exploit On 3 June 1950, Herzog and Louis Lachenal became the first climbers in modern history to climb a peak over 8000m when, on the 1950 French Annapurna expedition, they summited the Himalayan mountain Annapurna I, the 10th-highest mountain in the world. Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin, generally known as Roselyne Bachelot (; née Narquin; born 24 December 1946), is a French politician who served as Minister of Culture in the government of Prime Minister Jean Castex (2020–2022) and as Minister of Solidarity and Social Cohesion (2010–2012) in the government of Prime Minister François Fillon. Jean-François Lamour
Jean-François Lamour (born 2 February 1956 in Paris) is a French former Fencing, fencer and current politician and cabinet minister. During his fencing career, Lamour achieved various athletic accomplishments, notably qualifying for the 1987 world championship. He earned two gold medals, two silver medals, and one bronze medal in sabre Olympic events between 1984 and 1988. After retiring from fencing, Lamour entered politics and served as the sports and youth counselor to the Mayor of Paris from 1993 to 1995. Marie-George Buffet
Marie-George Buffet (née Kosellek; born 7 May 1949) is a French politician. She was the head of the French Communist Party (PCF) from 2001 to 2010. She joined the Party in 1969, and she served in the government as Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports from 4 June 1997 to 5 May 2002. Buffet was re-elected on 16 June 2002 to another five-year term in the National Assembly as a representative of Seine-Saint-Denis. Guy Drut (born 6 December 1950) is an Olympic champion and politician who won gold at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal in the 110 m hurdles. Alain Calmat (born 31 August 1940) is a French former competitive figure skater, surgeon, and politician. He is the 1964 Olympic silver medalist, the 1965 World champion, the 1962–1964 European champion, and the 1958 & 1962–1965 French national champion. Career Calmat attended the Cours Hattemer, a private school. He started skating at the age of nine. He had one of the longest figure skating careers in postwar skating, competing in every European, World, and Olympic competition for twelve years.
