History In the 1930s the Lucky Jim Mine near Milligan produced silver-copper ore which was shipped to Douglas, Arizona for smelting. Located at a railroad siding of the Arizona and California Railroad The Arizona and California Railroad is a class III short line railroad that was a subdivision of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway (ATSF). The Old Woman Mountains are located south of the town of Essex, California, and north of Danby Dry Lake. The range reaches an elevation of at the west end (Old Woman Mountain), and lies in San Bernardino County in the Mojave Desert. Cadiz (Spanish: ''Cádiz'') is an unincorporated community in the Mojave Desert in San Bernardino County, California, United States. It is located just south of the Marble Mountains near the National Trails Highway. Cadiz was a water stop on the railroad. History The town was named in 1883 by Lewis Kingman, a locating engineer for the Atlantic and Pacific Railroad. TopoZone is a website operated by Locality LLC that offers free online topographic maps. It was founded in November 1999 by Ed McNierney whose company Maps a la carte, Inc. operated out of North Chelmsford, Massachusetts.
