The Militsiya of the Kruševo Republic (Macedonian language, Macedonian: Милиција на Крушевската Република, Milicija na Krushevskata Republika) was the body responsible for maintaining the order and public security in the Kruševo Republic. It was formed right after the decision of the Interim Government of the Republic of Kruševo on 4 August 1903. Formation On 4 August, the day after establishing the Kruševo Republic, the interim government made a decision for establishing a body responsible for maintaining the order and public security which will be led by the mayor of Kruševo, the Bulgarian Millet, Bulgarian Hristo Kjurkchiev. After the decision was made, a large number of volunteers gathered in front of the building of the interim government, most of them from the Aromanians, Aromanian neighborhood of Kruševo. Kruševo
Kruševo ( ; "Crușuva") is a town in North Macedonia. In Macedonian language, Macedonian the name means the 'place of pear trees'. It is the highest town in North Macedonia and one of the highest in the Balkans, situated at an altitude of over 1350 m (4429 feet) above sea level. The town of Kruševo is the seat of Kruševo Municipality. The Kruševo Republic ( Bulgarian and Macedonian: Крушевска Република, ''Kruševska Republika''; ) was a short-lived political entity proclaimed in 1903 by rebels from the Secret Macedonian-Adrianople Revolutionary Organization (IMRO) in Kruševo during the anti-Ottoman Ilinden–Preobrazhenie Uprising. History In the early 20th century, Kruševo was populated by a Slavic population, Aromanians and Orthodox Albanians with town inhabitants being ethnoreligiously split among various Ottoman millets, with Greek Patriarchists being the largest community, followed by Bulgarian Exarchists and the Ullah millet for the Aromanians. Bulgarian Millet
Bulgarian millet () was an ethnoreligious group, ethno-religious and speech community, linguistic community within the Ottoman Empire from the mid-19th to early 20th century. The semi-official term, was used by the Sultan for the first time in 1847, and was his tacit consent to a more ethno-linguistic definition of the Bulgarians as a nation. This resulted in the rise of a Bulgarian St. Stephen Church in the Ottoman capital Constantinople in 1851. The Aromanians () are an Ethnic groups in Europe, ethnic group native to the southern Balkans who speak Aromanian language, Aromanian, an Eastern Romance language. They traditionally live in central and southern Albania, south-western Bulgaria, northern and central Greece, and North Macedonia, and can currently be found in central and southern Albania, south-western Bulgaria, south-western and eastern North Macedonia, northern and central Greece, southern Serbia, and south-eastern Romania (Northern Dobruja).
