Mildred Pabón
Mildred Gail Pabón Charneco (born November 27, 1957) is a Puerto Rican judge serving as an associate justice of the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico. She was appointed by Governor Luis Fortuño on February 4, 2009. She graduated from the University of Puerto Rico, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree with the highest honors. In 1983, she earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Puerto Rico School of Law. She filled the vacancy created by the death of Associate Justice Jaime Fuster in 2007. Pabón is the fourth woman to serve on the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico. Prior to serving as associate justice, Pabón served for over nine years as a judge at the Puerto Rico Circuit Court of Appeals and as legislative counsel to Governor Pedro Rosselló. Prior to that, Pabón worked as a staff attorney at the Office of Legislative Services of Puerto Rico and in private practice. The Supreme Court of Puerto Rico () is the highest court of Puerto Rico, having judicial authority to interpret and decide questions of Puerto Rican law. Office Of Legislative Services Of Puerto Rico
The Office of Legislative Services of Puerto Rico was created on January 27, 1954 to provide research, translation, library and legislative drafting services to all members of the Puerto Rico Legislative Assembly. Its duties are similar to those of the Congressional Research Service. The Office is headed by a Director, currently Juan Luis Martinez Martinez, appointed jointly by the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives. Two of the Office's directors, Carlos V. Dávila and Rafael Alonso-Alonso, have subsequently served as Associate Justices of the Puerto Rico Supreme Court. Another two, Nélida Jiménez-Velázquez and Teresa Medina Monteserrín, have moved on to the Puerto Rico Court of Appeals, and three have become Superior Court judges, including Juan R. Pedro Rosselló
Pedro Juan Rosselló González (; born April 5, 1944) is a Puerto Rican physician and politician who served as the governor of Puerto Rico from 1993 to 2001. He was President of the New Progressive Party from 1991 to 1999 and 2003 to 2008, and served as Senator for the District of Arecibo from 2005 to 2008. His son, Ricardo, was also Governor of Puerto Rico from 2017 to 2019. In 1988 Rosselló ran for Resident Commissioner of Puerto Rico, but lost to Jaime Fuster in the 1988 elections. From 1990 to 1991 he successfully challenged former Governor and then-NPP President Carlos Romero Barceló for the NPP's presidency. He was thereafter elected Governor of Puerto Rico in 1992 and in 1996 was re-elected by the widest electoral margin up to that date. Luis Guillermo Fortuño Burset (born 31 October 1960) is a Puerto Ricans, Puerto Rican politician who served as the governor of Puerto Rico, an unincorporated territory of the United States, from 2009 to 2013. Fortuño served as the first Secretary of Economic Development and Commerce of Puerto Rico, secretary of economic development and commerce of Puerto Rico (1994–1997), as the executive director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company (1993–1994), and as the president of the Puerto Rico Hotel Development Corporation during the administration of Pedro Rosselló. The University of Puerto Rico School of Law is the law school of the University of Puerto Rico at Río Piedras, the only law school in the University of Puerto Rico System and the only public law school in Puerto Rico.
