Milania Väänänen
Milania Kristiina Väänänen (born 29 November 2003) is a Finnish pair skater. With her former skating partner, Filippo Clerici, she is the 2023 CS Golden Spin gold medalist, 2023 Tayside Trophy bronze medalist, and three-time Finnish national champions (2023–25). As a single skater, Väänänen is the 2019 Finnish junior national silver medalist. Personal life Väänänen was born on 29 November 2003 in Lahti, Finland. Her mother is half-Russian/half- Ukrainian. Career Early years Väänänen began learning how to skate in 2009. She competed internationally for Finland as a junior single skater for two seasons, including an appearance on the ISU Junior Grand Prix circuit in 2018 where she finished 15th. Väänänen decided to make the transition to pair skating at the end of 2018, not long after winning the silver medal at the 2019 Finnish Junior Championships. 2024 World Figure Skating Championships
The 2024 World Figure Skating Championships were held from March 18–24, 2024, at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada. Sanctioned by the International Skating Union (ISU), the World Championships are considered the most prestigious event in figure skating, second only to the Olympics. Montreal had originally been scheduled to host the 2020 World Championships, which were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Medals were awarded in men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance. The competition determined the entry quotas for each skating federation at the 2025 World Championships. The ISU published a complete list of entries on February 27, 2024. 2022–23 Figure Skating Season
The 2022–23 figure skating season began on July 1, 2022, and ended on June 30, 2023. During this season, elite skaters competed at the ISU (International Skating Union) Championship level at the 2023 European Championships, Four Continents Championships, World Junior Championships, and World Championships. They also competed at elite events such as the ISU Challenger Series as well as the Grand Prix and Junior Grand Prix series, culminating at the Grand Prix Final. On March 1, 2022, the International Skating Union banned all figure skaters and officials from Russia and Belarus from attending any international competitions following the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. Franca Anna Bianconi Manni (born 3 March 1962) is an Italian figure skating coach and former competitor. She competed at the 1980 Winter Olympics. Personal life Bianconi was born on 3 March 1962 in Milan, Italy. She is the mother of Italian ice dancer Victoria Manni. Career Bianconi began skating at age six in Milan. During her career, she was coached mainly by Franca Invernizzi in Milan and also spent time in Colorado training under Carlo Fassi and in Lake Placid under Tommy Litz. Bianconi debuted at the European and World Championships in 1977. She was selected to represent Italy at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, New York, and finished 19th. Maurizio Margaglio (; born 16 November 1974) is an Italian ice dancing coach and former competitor. With partner Barbara Fusar-Poli, he is the 2001 World champion, 2001 European champion, and 2002 Olympic bronze medalist. They won nine Italian titles and competed at three Olympics. Competitive career Margaglio began skating at age ten, directly in ice dancing. Early in his career, Margaglio was a three-time Italian junior champion with Claudia Frigoli. Barbara Fusar-Poli asked Margaglio to skate with her after her partner retired. He and Fusar-Poli began skating on the senior level in 1994-95, and enjoyed some success in the first years of their career, including winning several Grand Prix medals.
