Michael A. Smith (born 1945 in Potsdam, New York) is an American former college hockey player, professional coach and front office executive who has worked with the original Winnipeg Jets, Chicago Blackhawks and Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League (NHL). Since 2003, Smith has worked as a scout and with two companies specializing in hockey analytics. Beginnings in hockey Smith was born and raised in Potsdam and attended Potsdam Central High School where he was on the hockey team. Smith earned a Bachelor of Science degree in social sciences at Clarkson University, where he also played hockey. He then transferred to Syracuse University where he earned a doctorate in sociology. While in graduate school at Syracuse, he was the head coach for two seasons at Christian Brothers Academy. Potsdam is a town in St. Lawrence County, New York, United States. The town population was 14,901 at the 2020 census. When the State University of New York at Potsdam and Clarkson University are in session, the population increases by approximately 8,000 students. Mike Kitchen
Michael Elwin Kitchen (born February 1, 1956) is a Canadian former defenceman and coach. He most recently was an assistant coach for the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League. As of February 2016, Kitch has coached in over 2400 NHL games including playoffs. In 2012/2013 he assisted in coaching the Hawks to their longest winning streak without a loss. He also spent time as the head coach of the Lake Simcoe Snappers, the Georgina Men’s League Champions. He was selected in the third round of the 1976 NHL Amateur Draft, 38th overall, by the Kansas City Scouts. He was also taken in the seventh round of the 1976 WHA Amateur Draft, 83rd overall, by the Toronto Toros, although Kitchen ultimately chose to enter the NHL. Andrew McBain
Andrew Burton McBain (born January 18, 1965) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. McBain played eleven seasons in the National Hockey League between 1983 and 1994. Playing career As a youth, McBain played in the 1977 and 1978 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournaments with the Toronto Young Nationals minor ice hockey team. McBain was selected 8th overall in the 1983 NHL Entry Draft by the Winnipeg Jets after scoring 120 points in junior hockey the previous season for the North Bay Centennials. He stepped straight into the NHL in 1983–84 at the age of just 18, and turned in a promising rookie campaign with 11 goals and 19 assists for 30 points in 78 games. McBain would struggle to build off his rookie campaign, however, and slumped to just 7 goals and 22 points in 1984–85. Randy Gilhen
Randy Gilhen (born June 13, 1963) is a German-born Canadian former ice hockey forward. Gilhen played 457 games in the National Hockey League (NHL). As a member of the 1991 Pittsburgh Penguins, Gilhen was the first German-born player to win the Stanley Cup. Playing career Gilhen started his National Hockey League career with the Hartford Whalers in 1982. He also played for the Winnipeg Jets, Pittsburgh Penguins, Los Angeles Kings, New York Rangers, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Florida Panthers. David Allan McLlwain (born June 9, 1967) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. McLlwain is best known for playing for a record four National Hockey League (NHL) teams (the Winnipeg Jets, the New York Islanders, the Buffalo Sabres, and the Toronto Maple Leafs) in one season during the 1991–92 season. Brent Seabrook (born April 20, 1985) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman. He played fifteen seasons for the Chicago Blackhawks from 2005 to 2020.
