Mike Post (born Leland Michael Postil; September 29, 1944) is an American composer, best known for his television theme music for various shows, including '' The White Shadow''; ''Law & Order''; '' Law & Order: Special Victims Unit''; ''The A-Team''; '' The Byrds of Paradise''; ''NYPD Blue''; '' Renegade;'' ''The Rockford Files''; ''L.A. Law''; ''Quantum Leap''; '' Magnum, P.I.''; '' Hill Street Blues'', and ''Mammoth''. He was also the producer of the '' Van Halen III'' album by the band Van Halen. Early musical career Post's first credited work in music was cutting demos using two singing sisters, Terry and Carol Fischer. With Sally Gordon, they went on to become The Murmaids. Their first single, " Popsicles and Icicles" (written by David Gates), was a number 3 hit song in January 1964. ''The Byrds of Paradise'' is an American drama television series that ran on ABC from March 3 to June 23, 1994, during the 1993–94 season. One of the few series executive produced by Steven Bochco that he did not help create, the hour-long drama centers on a father and his three children, abruptly relocated to Hawaii from New Haven, Connecticut after the sudden death of the children's mother. Much of the show dealt with the titular Byrd family adjusting to their lives in an entirely new environment as they recovered from their loss. The Murmaids were an American one-hit wonder all-female vocal trio, composed of sisters Carol and Terry Fischer (1 April 1946 – 28 March 2017); and Sally Gordon from North Hollywood, California, United States, who, in January 1964 reached No. 3 on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 with " Popsicles and Icicles". ''Mammoth'' is a British sitcom, written and conceived by Mike Bubbins. Bubbins gave up his teaching job to forge a career in comedy and plays PE teacher Tony Mammoth. The pilot episode was released on 5 November 2021, one of six trial shows commissioned by BBC Wales. Three further episodes were announced as a joint production by BBC Wales and BBC Studios in 2023.
