Mike Fritzthadus Jones (born February 10, 1967) is an American former professional basketball player. High school career Born in Phoenix, Arizona, Jones was named a First-Team Parade All-American, while at Oak Hill Academy, in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia. College career Jones played college basketball at Auburn University, in Auburn, Alabama, with the Auburn Tigers. Jones was a sixth man on the 1985-86 Auburn Tigers Elite Eight team with Chuck Person and Chris Morris, then moved up to starter then next season after Person graduated and left for the NBA. Jones averaged 15.8 points and 7.2 rebounds, leading the Tigers to the NCAA Tournament where they lost in the second round to eventual champion Indiana. Jones had a career high 30 points in the loss to Indiana. Jones got off to an impressive start the next season, 1987-88. He was averaging 21.9 points per game, but seven games into the season he was dismissed from the team for being academically ineligible.https://www.le ... The Shanghai Sharks ( zh, s=上海久事大鲨鱼, t=上海久事大鯊魚, p=Shànghǎi Jǐushì Dàshāyú) are a Chinese Basketball Association team based in Shanghai. United States Basketball League
The United States Basketball League (USBL) was a professional men's spring basketball league. The league was formed in 1985 and ceased operations in 2008. The USBL started in 1985 as one of the first basketball leagues to play a late-spring to early-summer schedule. The league quickly became known as a development league for players, with many players moving up to the National Basketball Association (NBA) and many more playing in Europe. In 1996, the league made a stock offering, a rarity among sports leagues. However, in later years, the league declined as rival leagues appeared and USBL had a tougher time replacing teams that folded. Chris Morris (basketball)
Christopher Vernard Morris (born January 20, 1966) is an American former professional basketball player. In his 11-season (1988–1999) National Basketball Association (NBA) career, the 6'8" small forward played for the New Jersey Nets, Utah Jazz, and Phoenix Suns. He is a graduate of Atlanta's Douglass High School where his jersey has been retired, and played collegiately for the Auburn Tigers. He scored 8,184 total points in his NBA career. Chuck Connors Person (born June 28, 1964) is an American former basketball player and coach. Person played 14 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and was the 1987 NBA Rookie of the Year. Person played college basketball for the Auburn Tigers and was selected fourth overall in the 1986 NBA draft by the Indiana Pacers, for whom he played six seasons. He also played for the Minnesota Timberwolves, San Antonio Spurs, Charlotte Hornets and Seattle SuperSonics. His 17-year coaching career ended when Person was ensnared in a college recruitment scandal and pleaded guilty to a bribery charge.
