Mike Jackson (born 25 August 1939) is a Scottish former professional association footballer and manager. Jackson played as an inside forward for Benburb, Celtic, St Johnstone, Third Lanark A.C., Third Lanark, Clyde F.C., Clyde, Queen of the South F.C., Queen of the South and Clydebank F.C. (1965), Clydebank in Scotland and Drumcondra F.C., Drumcondra in Ireland. Jackson had two spells as the manager of the ''Doonhamers'', (1975–78) and (1986–87), the club in Dumfries where he played for the longest time during his career. Celtic Mike Jackson signed for Celtic at the start of season 1957-58 in Scottish football, 1957-58 having previously played for Scottish Junior Football Association, Scottish Junior club Benburb. Iain McChesney is a former professional association footballer with Scottish Football League club Queen of the South from Dumfries. McChesney is the longest serving player in the club's history, playing with them from 1960 to 1981. McChesney was a utility player. Lex Law was a former Scottish professional association footballer, who spent a decade with Queen of the South as an inside left. Queen of the South Lex Law is from a family with multiple Queen of the South connections. His father, Jackie Law, Sr, played for Queens in a war interrupted career from season 1937–38 to season 1948–49. Jackie Law, Jr was Lex's brother and played for Queens from season's 1962–63 to 1966–67. Lex Law signed for Queens in 1964 from Kello Rovers. Law was a strong running, versatile player who played in multiple forward positions. He played for the Scottish Professional Youth Team in 1965 v Italy and Yugoslavia in the UEFA Under Championships in Germany. Jocky Dempster
John 'Jocky' Dempster (born 8 October 1948) is a former Scottish professional footballer who played as a right winger, mainly for Queen of the South and also St Mirren and Clyde. Career Dempster played with junior outfit Muirkirk before signing for Queen of the South at the start of the 1969–70 season. Dempster is best known for his time Queens in Dumfries. The 1970s goalscoring winger and penalty taker found the net 98 times during 355 first-team matches for the ''Doonhamers'' and is the sixth highest goalscorer in the club's history. Billy Collings
Billy Collings (born 10 June 1940) is a Scottish former footballer who played for Greenock Morton, Dumbarton, Berwick Rangers, Cambuslang Rangers, Queen of the South, Stranraer and Gretna. Playing career Morton, Dumbarton & Berwick Collings started his senior career as a teenager playing for Greenock Morton. At the same time he served his apprenticeship as a bricklayer working at Greenock shipyards. He then joined Dumbarton where he picked up the only sending-off of his senior career. Next on Collings' travels was Berwick Rangers after which he stopped playing completely. Allan Ball
Allan Ball (26 February 1943 – 21 July 2018) was an English footballer. Born in Hetton-le-Hole in County Durham, Ball played as a goalkeeper, spending most of his professional career with Scottish club Queen of the South in Dumfries. Ball made a club record 731 competitive first team appearances for the ''Doonhamers'' between 1963 and 1982. Ball also briefly played for Bishop Auckland, Stanley United and Gretna. In later years he was an Honorary Director at Queen of the South. Playing career Ball played outfield as an inside left as a youngster before he was handed the green jersey when the Durham County Schools goalkeeper, future FA Cup winner Jimmy Montgomery with Sunderland, was injured during a match. Palmerston Park
Palmerston Park is a football stadium on Terregles Street in Dumfries, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. It is the home ground of Scottish League One club Queen of the South, who have played there since 1919. South of Scotland League club Heston Rovers have shared Palmerston since 2013. The stadium has a capacity of of which 3,377 are seats. History Palmerston Park was first opened in 1919, when Queen of the South were formed, although football had been played at the site since the 1870s. The site of the ground was formerly a farm called Palmers Toun. This is on the Maxwelltown side of the River Nith in Dumfries. South West Scotland
South West Scotland is an ambiguous term that can include Ayrshire, Galloway, Dumfriesshire, the Stewartry of Kirkcudbright, as well as Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire.
