Mike D. Lane Field
Mike D. Lane Field was a baseball venue in Florence, Alabama, United States. It was home to the North Alabama Lions baseball team of the NCAA Division I ASUN Conference. The facility had a capacity of 1,500 spectators and is named for former head coach Mike D. Lane who has the most wins in North Alabama history. History Play began at University Field in 1984 as Mike D. Lane took over as coach of the Lions baseball team. In 1989, the stadium held its first ever NCAA Regional Tournament as the Lions beat two other Gulf South opponents to take home the regional championship. North Alabama Lions Baseball
The North Alabama Lions baseball team represents the University of North Alabama, which is located in Florence, Alabama. The Lions are an NCAA Division I college baseball program that competes in the ASUN Conference. They began competing in Division I in 2019 and joined the ASUN Conference the same season. The North Alabama Lions play all home games on campus at Mike D. Lane Field. Under the direction of Head Coach Jad Prachniak, the Lions are entering their 2nd season under full Division I membership. In the program's 35 years in Division II, the Lions played in 12 NCAA Tournaments and advanced to the College World Series once in 1999. The Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) is a collegiate athletic conference operating mostly in the Southeastern United States. Bank Independent Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium complex by the University of North Alabama that is being constructed in Florence, Alabama to replace Braly Stadium and Mike D.
