Mike Barson
Michael Barson (born 21 April 1958) is a British multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and composer. In a career spanning 45 years, Barson came to prominence in the late 1970s as the keyboard player for the band Madness. Early years Barson was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. He grew up in North London with his two brothers, Dan and Ben, who are also musicians (with Ben being one of Roland Gift's collaborators). He is often known by the nicknames "Monsieur Barso" or "Barzo". Prior to forming Madness, Barson and fellow future Madness member Lee Thompson gained some notice as graffiti artists in the mid-1970s. After reading about the emerging New York graffiti scene, they spray-painted their nicknames ("Mr B" and "Kix") along with two friends' names "Cat" and "Columbo" around north London. Alan Winstanley
Alan Kenneth Winstanley (; born 2 November 1952) is an English record producer and songwriter, active from the mid-1970s onwards. He usually works with Clive Langer. Early life He was born in Fulham in November 1952 to parents Ken and Doreen. After playing guitar in local groups he started his career at TW Studios in Fulham. Career His early career during the mid-1970s was as an audio engineer, working on albums by The Stranglers in addition to releases by Joe Jackson and Generation X. Clive Langer
Clive Langer (born 19 June 1954) is an English record producer and songwriter, active from the mid-1970s onwards. He usually works with Alan Winstanley. He composed the music for the films '' Still Crazy'' and '' Brothers of the Head''. Biography Langer was born in 1954, to a Jewish Polish father who had fled Poland to escape the Nazis, before later settling in England and enlisting in the Royal Air Force. Having grown up in London, Langer studied at art school in Canterbury and at the Liverpool College of Art. Prior to his record producing career he was a guitarist with the British cult band Deaf School. Langer sometimes performed under the alias of 'Cliff Hanger', and his production work was sometimes attributed to 'Clanger'. Rock Steady (album)
''Rock Steady'' is the fifth studio album by American rock band No Doubt, released on December 11, 2001, by Interscope Records. The band began writing the album with initial recording sessions in Los Angeles and San Francisco, then traveled to London and Jamaica to work with various performers, songwriters, and producers. Sly & Robbie, the Neptunes, and William Orbit were among the many artists the band collaborated with on the album. As a result of these collaborations, ''Rock Steady'' touches on many musical styles, focusing on electropop, dancehall, and new wave. No Doubt is an American rock band formed in Anaheim, California in 1986. For most of its career, the band has consisted of vocalist and founding member Gwen Stefani, guitarist Tom Dumont, bassist Tony Kanal and drummer Adrian Young. ''The Lone Ranger'' is the debut solo album by Suggs, lead singer of the English second wave ska band Madness. It was released in 1995 and peaked at No. 14 in the UK Albums Chart. The album contains five singles which reached the UK Singles Chart, including covers of The Beatles' "I'm Only Sleeping" and Simon & Garfunkel's "Cecilia", the latter being Suggs' highest-charting solo single to date. (Waiting For) The Ghost Train
"(Waiting For) The Ghost Train" is a single by the English ska and pop band Madness. Released in October 1986 shortly after the band announced they were to break-up, it was their last single prior to reforming in 1992. It spent nine weeks in the UK Singles Chart, peaking at number 18. The song first appeared on an album on the band's 1986's '' Utter Madness'' greatest hits compilation, issued one month after its single release. The song was written by Suggs about apartheid in South Africa, with its chorus "It's black and white, don't try to hide it" and the line "The station master's writing with a piece of orange chalk / One hundred cancellations, still no one wants to walk" (in reference to the South African flag).
