It is managed by Dublin Midlands Hospital Group. History The foundation stone for the hospital, which was designed by Scott & Gould, was laid by Seán T. O'Kelly, Minister of Local Government and Public Health, on 31 March 1937. It was officially opened as Tullamore General Hospital in December 1942. Services The hospital provides 254 beds, of which 207 are in-patient acute beds, while 47 are reserved for acute day cases. The Health Service Executive (HSE) ( ga, Feidhmeannacht na Seirbhíse Sláinte) is the publicly funded healthcare system in Ireland, responsible for the provision of health and personal social services. Tullamore
Tullamore (; ) is the county town of County Offaly in Ireland. It is on the Grand Canal, in the middle of the county, and is the fourth most populous town in the midlands region with 14,607 inhabitants at the 2016 census. The town retained Gold Medal status in the National Tidy Town Awards in 2015 and also played host to the World Sheep Dog Trials in 2005 which attracted international interest in the region. The Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise ( ga, Ospidéal Réigiúnach Lár Tíre, Port Laoise) is a public hospital located in Portlaoise, County Laois, Ireland. History The hospital, which replaced Laois County Infirmary, was designed by Drogheda born Irish architect Michael Scott, and was built between 1933 and 1936.
