Mick Grøndahl
Michael Christian Grøndahl (often spelled Grondahl) (born 7 May 1968) is a Danish-American bass guitarist. He is widely known for playing bass guitar and composing on Jeff Buckley's debut album, ''Grace (Jeff Buckley album), Grace''. Early Life Grøndahl was born in Copenhagen, Denmark on May 7, 1968. at a young age, Grøndahl moved to and was raised in Manhattan, New York (state), New York with his mother and grandmother, Vava. Grøndahl attended Skidmore College where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in Art History and English. He then moved to New York City where he played with several bands. He met Jeff Buckley after seeing him perform at Columbia University's Postcrypt Cafe. Career Grøndahl began playing in local bands, playing the local bar scene on Saratoga's Broadway strip. ''Sketches for My Sweetheart the Drunk'' is a compilation album by the American singer-songwriter Jeff Buckley, released by Columbia Records on May 26, 1998, a year after his death. It comprises recordings Buckley made while working on his second album, ''My Sweetheart the Drunk'', with the producer Tom Verlaine in 1996 and 1997. It was released after negotiation with Buckley's mother, the owner of his estate, who feared that Sony was trying to exploit his legacy. It received positive reviews. Recording and release Buckley released his debut album, ''Grace'', in 1994. He began recording his second album with the working title ''My Sweetheart the Drunk'' in late 1996 with the producer Tom Verlaine. Unsatisfied with the results, Buckley discarded the recordings and went to Memphis with his band to start anew. Mesa/Boogie (also known as Mesa Engineering) is an American company in Petaluma, California, that manufactures amplifiers and other accessories for guitars and basses. It has been in operation since 1969. Mesa was started by Randall Smith as a small repair shop which modified Fender amplifiers, particularly the diminutive Fender Princeton. Smith's modifications gave the small amps much more input gain, making them much louder as well as creating a high-gain, distorted guitar tone. Prominent early customers included Carlos Santana and Keith Richards and Ron Wood of The Rolling Stones. The Fender Jazz Bass (often shortened to "J-Bass") is the second model of Bass guitar, electric bass guitar created by Leo Fender. It is distinct from the Fender Precision Bass, Precision Bass in that its tone is brighter and richer in the midrange and treble with less emphasis on the Harmonic series (music), fundamental frequency. ''XO'' is the fourth studio album by the American singer-songwriter Elliott Smith, released on August 25, 1998, by DreamWorks Records. Recording Early sessions for the album began at Larry Crane's Jackpot Recording Studio after the release of ''Either/Or'' in 1997. These sessions would yield early demos of several album tracks, as well as outtakes later released posthumously on ''New Moon''.
