Micheal Williams
Micheal Douglas Williams (born July 23, 1966) is an American former professional basketball player who played the point guard position in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He holds the NBA record for most consecutive free throws made with 97. NBA career Out of Baylor University, Williams was selected with the 48th overall pick in the 1988 NBA draft by the Detroit Pistons with whom he played 49 games in his rookie season, averaging 2.4 points and 1.4 assists per game. The Pistons won the NBA championship in his rookie year. Williams was traded by Detroit to the Phoenix Suns on draft day of 1989, along with the Pistons' first-round draft pick (27th overall) of the 1989 NBA draft, Kenny Battle, in exchange for the Suns' first-round draft choice (24th overall pick), Anthony Cook. Point Guard
The point guard (PG), also called the one or the point, is one of the Basketball positions, five positions in a regulation basketball game. A point guard has perhaps the most specialized role of any position and is usually the shortest player on the court. Point guards are expected to control the pace of the game. They effectively "run" the team's offense by controlling the ball and making sure that it gets to the right player at the right time. Free-throw
In basketball, free throws or foul shots are unopposed attempts to score points by shooting from behind the free-throw line (informally known as the foul line or the charity stripe), a line situated at the end of the restricted area. Free throws are generally awarded after a foul on the shooter by the opposing team, analogous to penalty shots in other team sports. The 1989–90 NBA season was the 44th season of the National Basketball Association. The season ended with the Detroit Pistons winning their second consecutive NBA Championship, beating the Portland Trail Blazers 4 games to 1 in the NBA Finals. Anthony Cook (basketball)
Anthony Lacquise Cook (born March 19, 1967) is an American former professional basketball player. After having played collegiately at the University of Arizona, power forward– center Cook was selected by the Phoenix Suns in the first round (24th overall pick) of the 1989 NBA draft, and then traded on draft day to the Detroit Pistons in exchange for Micheal Williams and the Pistons' first round draft choice (27th overall pick), Kenny Battle. Cook chose not to join the Pistons, electing to play in Greece instead for P.A.O.K. B.C. He returned to the United States after one season and played in four NBA seasons for the Denver Nuggets, Orlando Magic, Milwaukee Bucks and Portland Trail Blazers, in a career marred by numerous injuries. He had his best season as a rookie in 1990–91, when he appeared in 58 games for the Nuggets and averaged 5.3 ppg and 5.6 rpg. Kenny Battle
Kenneth R. Battle (born October 10, 1964) is an American former professional basketball player. High school career In 1984, Battle led Aurora West High School to third place in the Illinois High School Association Class AA state basketball tournament. Battle led the tournament with 86 points in four games for third-place finisher Aurora West. In 2007, the Illinois High School Association named Battle one of the 100 Legends of the IHSA Boys Basketball Tournament. College career Battle played collegiately at Northern Illinois University from 1984 to 1986 before transferring to the University of Illinois. He was known as "King of the 360s" while playing at Northern Illinois. He was the captain of the 1989 Illinois team nicknamed the Flyin' Illini.
