Aurora ( 2021 population: 62,057) is a town in central York Region in the Greater Toronto Area, within the Golden Horseshoe of Southern Ontario, Canada. It is located north of the City of Richmond Hill and is partially situated on the Oak Ridges Moraine. Education in Ontario comprises public and private primary schools, secondary schools and post-secondary institutions. Bill Hogarth Secondary School
Bill Hogarth Secondary School is a public high school in Markham, Ontario, Canada operated by the York Region District School Board. It opened in November 2017 for students in grades 9 and 10, some of whom were transferred from Pierre Elliott Trudeau High School. It offers a French immersion track in addition to the English curriculum. It is located at the intersection of Bur Oak Avenue and Almira Avenue. The school is named after Bill Hogarth, a former teacher and director of the York Region District School Board. Construction of the school was delayed by rain from April to July 2017, necessitating the school's opening being delayed from September to November 2017. Bill Crothers Secondary School is an athletic based high school in the community of Unionville in Markham, Ontario, Canada. It was the newest secondary school in the York Region District School Board for a number of years, since 2008. Named for the former Olympic athlete and Chair of the York Region District School Board, Bill Crothers, the school opened its doors to Grade 9 and 10 students in August 2008. Bayview Secondary School
Bayview Secondary School, initially known as Bayview High School is a grade 9–12, 2-semester secondary school operated by the York Region District School Board. It is located just north of the northeast corner of Bayview Avenue and Major Mackenzie Drive in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada. Bayview S.S. was officially opened on March 19, 1961. Bayview S.S. is named after the street on which it is located. Its area used to be part of the Elliot farm. According to the Fraser Institute, the school ranked 9th in Ontario in a Fraser Institute ranking of all Ontario Secondary Schools in 2016-17. French Immersion
French immersion is a form of bilingual education in which students who do not speak French as a first language will receive instruction in French. In most French- immersion schools, students will learn to speak French and learn most subjects such as history, music, geography, art, physical education and science in French. Aurora High School (Ontario)
Aurora High School is one of five high schools in Aurora, Ontario, and is one of two under the jurisdiction of the York Region District School Board. It serves students from Grades 9 to 12. Aurora High School has a strong French immersion program, and used to serve as the feeder school for many local French immersion public schools, however as of the 2019–2020 school year, the only French immersion elementary school is Lester B. Alexander Mackenzie High School (AMHS), formerly known as Don Head Secondary School is a public secondary school with classes for students in grades 9 through 12, located in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada.
