Michael Ross (footballer)
Michael Ross (born 16 September 1991) is an Australian rules footballer who played for the Essendon Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Junior career Ross originally played for the Warragul and then the Gippsland Power in the TAC Cup. He played 40 matches for Gippsland Power and averaged 21.4 disposals per game from his 14 appearances in 2010, the third highest average at the club. He was used mainly in the backline with his 4.1 rebound 50s per game a club-high. He has exceptional speed over 20 metres and was described in the press as a 'classy' and 'dashing' defender who set up a lot of positive play. In the 2010 TAC Cup Grand Final against the Calder Cannons, Ross gathered 30 possessions and 14 handball receives off half back and was clearly the Power's best in a side in which future Essendon teammate, Dyson Heppell, gathered 20 possessions. Michael Ross (Washington Politician)
Michael K. Ross (July 14, 1941 – August 21, 2007) was an American civil rights activist, construction worker, and member of the Washington House of Representatives who served from 1970 to 1972. He is the last Republican to have been elected from Washington's 37th legislative district. Early life Ross was born in Iowa City, Iowa to Carl Ross and Violet Phinisse Scott, and was raised in Flint, Michigan and Los Angeles, California. From 1958 to 1960 he served in the United States Air Force. After briefly attending Washburn Community College in Topeka, Kansas, he relocated to Virginia to work for Martin Luther King Jr.'s "Get Out the Vote" campaign. In 1967 he moved to Washington state out of a desire to escape the discrimination he had suffered elsewhere as a result of his brief marriage to a Caucasian woman. Michael Avery Ross (born August 2, 1961) is an American businessman and politician. A member of the Democratic Party (United States), Democratic Party, he served as the United States House of Representatives, U.S. representative for from 2001 to 2013 and was his party's nominee for governor of Arkansas in 2014. He is currently the last Democrat to have represented Arkansas in the House of Representatives. Michael Ross (born Isadore Rovinsky) (August 4, 1919 – May 26, 2009) was an American screenwriter and television producer. Ross, together with writing partners Don Nicholl and Bernard West, were writers/producers for ''All in the Family'' (for which Ross won the 1973 Emmy Award for Writing for a Comedy Series), ''The Jeffersons'', '' The Dumplings'', and ''Three's Company''. Delicious Vinyl is an American independent record label founded by Matt Dike and Michael Ross in 1987 and based in Los Angeles, California. History Michael Ross was a student at the University of California, Los Angeles when he met Matt Dike, a DJ from New York, in 1983. Dike was working at the Rhythm Lounge in Hollywood. They discovered that they were both members of Impact Record Pool, a service that provided new 12" records to club DJs, and that they shared an interest in soul, funk, and hip-hop. Soon Dike became the top DJ at Power Tools, a club in Los Angeles. In 1987, they founded Delicious Vinyl, an independent record label. Almost immediately the label was a success. Mike Ross (born September 8, 1973) is a Canadian announcer, broadcaster and actor. He is currently the PA announcer for the Toronto Maple Leafs and also a presenter on AMI-audio. Michael Bruce Ross (July 26, 1959 – May 13, 2005) was an American serial killer who committed at least eight murders and was nicknamed The Roadside Strangler. He was executed by the state of Connecticut in 2005. He was the last person executed in Connecticut before the state ended capital punishment, as the Connecticut Supreme Court ruled capital punishment unconstitutional in 2015, converting the sentences of the state's remaining death row inmates to life in prison without parole. Mike Ross is an American sculptor known for large scale public art projects. Works Ross' best known work, ''Big Rig Jig'', consisted of two modified tanker trucks attached to each other vertically in an S shape, with a truss installed in the tanks that allowed people to climb inside. The piece was built at American Steel, an art fabrication shop in Oakland, California. It was commissioned by the Black Rock City, LLC for Burning Man in 2007, and was considered one of the highlights of the event. It toured to the Coachella Music Festival in 2008, and featured at Dismaland in 2015. Ross described the work as a commentary on America's sustainability, unsustainable oil economy. Michael Ross (born 1954 in Buffalo, New York) is an American contemporary artist, known for his small-scale sculptures. Although Michael Ross has exhibited conceptually based works including performance, mail art, video, and audience participation projects, the last twenty years have seen the artist direct his focus toward small, precise wall mounted sculptures created from scraps, unidentifiable hardware and miscellaneous things. Michael Ross's earliest small-scale sculpture consisted of a single upright thimble containing the dust from several rooms of his home. A small work created by the artist in 1994 made a wry salute to large-scale minimal metal sculptures like those of Donald Judd. Over the years, Ross has also created numerous unique tiny sculptures inspired by the Japanese fairy tales of the writer Lafcadio Hearn.
