Michael Charles Rose (born 28 July 1982) is an English professional Association football, footballer who last played for Warrington Town F.C., Warrington Town. A Defender (association football), defender, he has made 454 appearances in the Football League, including 107 for Stockport County F.C., Stockport County. Rose came up through the Manchester United F.C. Reserves and Academy, Manchester United Academy before moving to Chester City F.C., Chester City in 2001. Further spells followed at Hereford United F.C., Hereford United, Yeovil Town F.C., Yeovil Town, Cheltenham Town F.C., Cheltenham Town (loan) and Scunthorpe United F.C., Scunthorpe United (loan), before Rose joined Stockport County F.C., Stockport County in time for the 2006–07 campaign. Gigg Lane is a football ground in Bury, Greater Manchester, England, built for Bury F.C. in 1885. The first match was played on 12 September 1885 between Bury and a team from Wigan. One of the world's oldest professional football stadiums, Gigg Lane was in continuous use by Bury until August 2019 when the club was expelled from the English Football League. The Football Association Youth Challenge Cup is an English football competition run by The Football Association for under-18 sides. Only those players between the age of 15 and 18 on 31 August of the current season are eligible to take part. It is dominated by the youth sides of professional teams, mostly from the Premier League, but attracts over 400 entrants from throughout the country. At the end of the Second World War the FA organised a Youth Championship for County Associations considering it the best way to stimulate the game among those youngsters not yet old enough to play senior football.
