Michael Lee Matthews (born October 9, 1983) is a former American football tight end for the New York Giants. He was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2007. He played college football at Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football, Georgia Tech. Matthews earned a Super Bowl ring with the Giants in Super Bowl XLII. Career Early career He was an Australian Institute of Sport scholarship holder, and in 2010 he became the Under 23 Road Race World Champion. Michael Matthews, born August 28, 1950 in Gander, Newfoundland, is a composer and photographer. Matthews completed a Ph.D. in composition at North Texas State University in 1985. Matthews is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and works in Berlin. Matthews' abstract photographs have been exhibited in Germany and the US. Michael Harrington Matthews (26 April 1914 – 29 May 1940) was an English first-class cricketer and naval officer who died in action in World War II. The son of Walter Matthews, who was Dean of St. Paul's Cathedral from 1934 to 1967, Michael Matthews went to Westminster School, where he played cricket for the first XI from 1930 to 1933. In his last two years at school he was selected to keep wicket for The Rest in the annual schools match at Lord's against Lord's Schools. In the 1932 match he made four stumpings and a catch when John Cameron took all 10 Lord's Schools wickets with his leg-spin. He went up to Christ Church, Oxford, in 1933, and played a sprinkling of matches for the university team in 1934 and 1935 before establishing himself as the principal wicket-keeper in 1936 and 1937, and playing in the annual match against Cambridge University. Michael Gough Matthews (12 July 1931 – 11 April 2013) was a British pianist, teacher and musical administrator. After starting as a concert pianist he turned to teaching, spending much of his career at the Royal College of Music in London, from 1972 to 1993, the last eight years as director of the college. His time in office was marked by a successful resistance to government plans to merge the college with the Royal Academy of Music, and by the building of a new theatre for student performances. Michael Chester "Mickey" Matthews (born November 8, 1953) is a former American football coach. He served as the head football coach at James Madison University (JMU) from 1999 to 2013, compiling a record of 109–71. Matthews coached the 2004 James Madison Dukes football team to an NCAA Division I-AA Football Championship. Early coaching career Matthews started his coaching career as an assistant coach at Lamar Consolidated High School, in Texas, working with offensive backs. During the 1978 season, he joined Kansas State University, as an assistant coach. During the 1980 and 1981 seasons, he served as the defensive coordinator at his alma mater, West Texas State—now known as West Texas A&M University.
