Michael Kotlikoff
Michael I. Kotlikoff is an American biomedical researcher, veterinarian, and the current president of Cornell University since March 2025. He was the provost of Cornell from 2015 to 2024. Since 1986, his academic research on cardiovascular biology, optogenetics, mouse genetics, and ion channel function has been funded by the National Institutes of Health. Early life and education Kotlikoff is Jewish. Kotlikoff received a Bachelor of Arts with a major in literature in 1973 and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1981, both from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He received a Doctor of Philosophy in physiology from the University of California, Davis in 1984.
