Michael Fitzgerald (Iowa Politician)
Michael L. Fitzgerald (born November 29, 1951) is an American businessman and politician who served as the 25th Treasurer of Iowa from 1983 to 2023. A member of the Democratic Party, he was the longest-serving state treasurer in the United States. Early life and early career Fitzgerald was born in Marshalltown, Iowa, in 1951. He graduated from Colo Community High School in 1970 and received his bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Iowa in 1974. Fitzgerald worked as a marketing analyst for Massey Ferguson in Des Moines for eight years before being elected State Treasurer of Iowa in 1982. Treasurer Of Iowa
The treasurer of Iowa is the state treasurer of the Government of Iowa, United States. The office is provided for by the Constitution of Iowa, which requires that the officeholder be elected every four years, simultaneously with the rest of the state's executive branch, in presidential midterm elections. Before statehood, Iowa was part of the Iowa Territory from 1838 to 1846. During this time, the territory had a treasurer. Robert A. Krause (born January 15, 1950) is currently president of the Veterans National Recovery Center, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. He is a former State Representative from Iowa, and served in the Iowa General Assembly from 1973 until 1979. He also served as Regional Representative for the US Secretary of Transportation during the Carter Administration, as past Chair of the Iowa Democratic Veterans Caucus and as past president of the Reserve Officers Association, Department of Iowa. The 2014 Iowa gubernatorial election took place on November 4, 2014. Republican incumbent Terry Branstad ran for reelection to a sixth overall and second consecutive four-year term. Branstad went on to win a historic sixth term as governor by defeating Democratic challenger and State Senator Jack Hatch, and on December 14, 2015, he became the longest-serving governor in American history. The Natural Law Party (NLP) is a political party in Michigan. It was a national political party in the United States, founded in 1992, affiliated with the international Natural Law Party.
