''Með hamri'' () is the third studio album by Icelandic black metal band Misþyrming, released on 16 December 2022 by Norma Evangelium Diaboli. The album received positive reviews from music critics. ''Með hamri'' is the band's first album to feature new drummer Magnús Skúlason. Background and recording In an interview with The Reykjavík Grapevine, vocalist, guitarist and songwriter D.G. stated that ''Með hamri'' is "a very aggressive and bitter manifesto". According to him, Misþyrming's previous album, Algleymi, was more emotional, whereas ''Með hamri'' is "the darkest album of the band; violent, with dark soundscapes". Two months before the recording of the album, the band replaced their drummer Helgi Rafn Hróðmarsson, as he was living abroad and working with him from a distance did not work out. Misþyrming () are a black metal band from Reykjavík, Iceland. The band formed in June 2013 and are currently signed to the French record label Norma Evangelium Diaboli. They released their debut studio album '' Söngvar elds og óreiðu'' on 7 February 2015 to widespread critical acclaim. The band have since toured Europe and the United States, performed at Eistnaflug, and were named an 'artist in residence' at the famous Roadburn Festival in 2016. ''Algleymi'' is the second studio album by Icelandic black metal band Misþyrming, released on 24 May 2019 by Norma Evangelium Diaboli. It is the first studio album to feature guitarist T.Í., bassist G.E., and the last to feature H.R.H. on drums. Background and recording According to D.G., he wrote the music in 2015 after the release of the band's debut and started recording it in 2016. However, due to production and mixing errors caused by cheap equipment, the album was delayed and entirely rerecorded from scratch, after finishing the final mix in early 2017 and realizing how critical the mistakes are. Svartidauði were an Icelandic black metal band from Kópavogur that formed in 2002 and disbanded in 2022. The name 'Svarti Dauði' is Icelandic for "Black Death". They released three demos before they released their debut album '' Flesh Cathedral'' on Terratur Possessions in 2012, as well as a split EP with the Chilean black metal band 'Perdition'.
