Metro Line
The Metro Line is a light rail line on the Edmonton LRT system. The line operates from northwest Edmonton to south Edmonton, and began operation on September 6, 2015. The line consists of ten stations, three of which are exclusive to the line and the remaining seven are shared with the Capital Line. A one-stop extension to Blatchford Gate station was completed in late 2023 but has yet to open. An extension to the northwest city limits, at the border with the city of St. Albert, has completed conceptual design, while St. Albert has mapped a possible extension through that city, along Highway 2/St. Albert Trail. History In spring 2007, the funding for a concept plan and preliminary engineering was commissioned, and the City approved the plan the next year. Health Sciences/Jubilee Station
Health Sciences/Jubilee station is an Edmonton LRT station in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It serves both the Capital Line and the Metro Line. As of 2021, it is the southern terminus of the Metro Line. It is a ground-level station located at 114 Street at 83 Avenue on the University of Alberta's main campus. History Health Sciences station opened on January 3, 2006, and was the second LRT station built on the south side of the North Saskatchewan River. It was also the first above ground station to be built since Clareview station which opened in 1981 and the first station built as part of the Capital Line's South expansion which added five new stations and 7.8 km of track to the system by 2010. Edmonton LRT
Edmonton Light Rail Transit, commonly referred to as the LRT, is a light rail system in Edmonton, Alberta. Part of the Edmonton Transit Service (ETS), the system has 29 stations on three lines and of track. Much of the system has a dedicated right-of-way, while in the downtown area, vehicles run underground. As of 2018, it was number seven on a list of the List of North American light rail systems by ridership, busiest light rail transit systems in North America, with over 113,000 daily weekday riders. Gorman, Edmonton
Gorman is a future neighbourhood in northeast Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. In implementation of the Gorman Community Concept Plan, subdivision and development of the neighbourhood will be guided by a future neighbourhood structure plan (NSP) to be adopted by Edmonton City Council. A 2.9 km light rail transit extension to this neighbourhood is planned but with no timeline or funding. It is located within Pilot Sound and was originally planned to be developed with community commercial and light industrial park uses within the Pilot Sound Area Structure Plan (ASP). NAIT/Blatchford Market Station
NAIT/Blatchford Market station is an Edmonton LRT station in Edmonton, Alberta which serves as the northern terminus of the Metro Line. The station is located north of Princess Elizabeth Avenue, on the west side of the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology and Brigadier James Curry Jefferson Armoury. The station was built after a long-term comprehensive land use plan of the Edmonton City Centre Airport lands were finalized. Century Park station is an Edmonton LRT station in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It serves the Capital Line. It is a ground-level station located at 111 Street, Edmonton, 111 Street near 23 Avenue, and is named after the transit-oriented development Century Park, Edmonton, Century Park, located on the former Heritage Mall site next to the station.
