Meshtastic
Meshtastic is a decentralized wireless off-grid mesh networking LoRa protocol. The main goal of the project is enabling low-power, long-range communication over unlicensed radio bands. It is designed around exchanging text messages and data in off-grid environments, with potential applications in IoT projects where a decentralized communication system is needed without existing infrastructure. Meshtastic uses LoRa peer to peer (P2P), a long-range radio protocol, to form a mesh network by rebroadcasting messages to extend communication reach. LoRa
LoRa (from "long range", sometimes abbreviated as "LR") is a physical proprietary radio communication technique. It is based on spread spectrum modulation techniques derived from chirp spread spectrum (CSS) technology. It was developed by Cycleo, a company of Grenoble, Grenoble, France, and patented in 2014. In March 2012, Cycleo was acquired by the US company Semtech. LoRaWAN (long range wide area network) defines the communication protocol and system architecture. MQTT is a lightweight, publish–subscribe, machine-to-machine network protocol for message queue/ message queuing service. Hamvention
The Dayton Hamvention is one of the two largest amateur radio conventions (or hamfest) in the world. It is held each May in the Dayton, Ohio area and draws attendees from various parts of the world. Since 2017, it has been held at the Greene County Fairgrounds in Xenia, Ohio near Dayton. Prior to this it was held in late April until 1996 when it changed to mid May at the Hara Arena in Trotwood, Ohio. The first Hamvention occurred on March 22, 1952 at the Biltmore Hotel in Dayton (QST March 1952). Hara Arena had been the home of Dayton Hamvention since 1964.
